LED Dock
 

We just built and installed our new dock. Looks and works great but kind of just blends in with everyone elses on the water. I want to put green led strip lighting around it to match the green neon lighting that is on the front of the house.


I know there are lots of led experts on here so here is my question.

I found a enough led lights on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/5x-5M-500CM-Gree...#ht_3741wt_962 to do what I want but am not sure if they will fit together end to end.

Will they?
How do you do it?
Can one 110 to 12v converter run 150ft of leds?
Is there a better place to buy them.

Not sure about dock lights, but when I built the deck at my house I used a 110 to 12V converter to power all my lights (about 30 separate lights) I did make a 30 amp circut of my main breaker, then ran that to the converter. You just have to add up the wattage of all the lights and ensure the converter you get can put out that much (I would say a little more so it doesnt trip the breaker) Anyways I bought the converter at homedepot. Good Luck

the add says 0.4A / meter. 150' = 46m. 46 * 0.4 = 18.4A total.

18.4A * 12V = 220W

The copper in the ribbon cable is thin. Over ~5M, you will notice a voltage drop and the light brightness will vary, so you will not want to daisy chain them all together. They could share a power source.
