I have an '04 SSV w/ some steering issues. While it's on the trailer, it turns freely w/o difficulty. However when driving w/ full ballast, it is very difficult to turn when turing either direction. I am wondering if that's normal or if the cable needs some attention. Anyone have a similar problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Time to replace the cable.

I was having the exact same problem on my older SunSport. When not under load the wheel would turn pretty easily but as soon as I got on plane it would become hard to steer. I went ahead and replaced the cable last night even though I am not entirely convinced that was the problem. It seems to me that if it was the cable it would be stiff no matter if it was on plane or not. Hopefully it will stop rainineg here so I can get it out on the water this weekend and I will let you know if the new cable helps.
