Installing amp location dilemma

I am trying to install my amp and my original location was under the drivers console up top away from everythinghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/28/uzydezym.jpg
But I am about 6" to short for my power and ground wires (10' of 4 AWG) to reach the amp. My other option would be installing the amp under the couch seat in a storage areahttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/28/8ezujuda.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/05/28/nyzeryse.jpg which is right next the battery. Should I stick with my original location and solder on a little more wire? Or install close to the battery in the storage area?

Does anyone wet ever sit on the seat above that? Or do you ever put anything wet in that area. I guess to me high and dry is better!!

On a side note what is that tiny piece of plywood a backer plate for? That may need some attention especially if that is a tower leg as the shadow looks like it may be!

Do this, buy a power distr. block and run the extra foot of power wire, then if you want to add more amps later, you will be set up already. I wouldn't solder more power wire, that stuff is thick.

Dist block and then short run is the way to go, if your original wire is up for it.
