I need some advice on some wake-surf boards. I have been riding for about 3 weeks on weekends and have tried the Hyperlite 5'6" (2006 board) a Liquid force 2004 board (think it's 5') I have tried 2 real surfboards both 5'6". I have been able to go freely with out a rope. I am interested in a all around board, and be able to do at least 180's. I have looked at the IS boards but are the really worth the money. I have heard Shread Stix are good, but to costly for me. I ride Goofy on a 00 SAN. any advice. I also weigh about 160lbs. Looking for suggestions or advice.
Well, "worth the money" is highly subjective...but I recently bought an IS Blue Woody and I love it. I got a killer deal on mine so it's easy for me to say it was worth the money. I spent less on a LF Venture (5'0") that I consider a much lesser value. I haven't touched the Venture since I got my Blue Woody. The board is sweet. Grab up one of the woodys and you will not be sorry.
At 160#'s and having some free riding time under your belt, I would guess that you would be best off with the Loogie if you go IS.
Inland Surfer was selling 2006 Yellow Loogeys for $240 a couple weeks back. NOt sure if they have any more at that price. We have that board and really like it.
Dennis, have you ridden the composite x? I weigh about 220 and am looking at one. Intermediate rider behind a '02 xstar. If I remember correctly, I read somewhere you were about 260# and riding the 5'0. Thanks
Hey Terry, Yes I ride the 5.0 as my main board. It would work you very well for you at 220. I find that riders under 180 find the board very fast as they are always riding the back foot to slow down. They could speed the boat up and ride faster. LOL I would be happy to let you demo the 5.0 if we could get together. Let me know.
Thanks for the reply and the offer, I am looking at it in my living room. Can't ride it for about two weeks though, going out of townIt arrived yesterday After I got back from the lake!
Thx, for the input. I called Walker Project today and possiably heading down to their facility next week since I am lucky enough to live in SoCal. If that don't work out I will go with the IS board
I rode a Walker F-18 last year. The board was a little small for my weight. So, I slowed the boat down a little and had a fantastic ride. Some day I’m going to have to ask Mike to make a boar for some one my size.
The IS Blue and Yellow are great off the shelf boards.
The right Shred Stixx board, right for your weight, is also an excellent way to go.
