I would like to clarify some of Ed's response to you Jeff. The F-18 is a very nice board, no question about it. There are significant differences between that board and the IS Yellow. Primarily, Mike at the Walker Project offers two distinct lines of boards. The custom line which is comprised of the F-18, Bullet and Fast 50 and then his Stock size and price point line of the Compsite X. The IS Yellow comes in a stock size, the only real option being the size fin you choose, either 3.25 or 3.5. Whereas the WP F-18 is hand built to the users specifications. You can change length, width, nose and tail rocker, rail shape, fin box type - location - toe-in angle and you can also have the board custom airbrushed. Further, you can order the board glassed light with a single layer of 4 oz glass or with as many layers as you want. If you prefer a Ploy U core to EPS, you can order that with polyester resin. Lots of options, certainly not for the faint of heart. Mike can certainly make recommendations on all of those items, but more than likely the stock sizes in the Composite X line would make more sense unless you REALLY know what you want from the board. The Composite X line is eps and epoxy, but isn't lighter than an equivalently sized F-18, further the custom construction options allow the F-18 to be built exceptionally light and fragile OR exceptionally heavy and strong. Epoxy is claimed to be stronger and lighter than the equivalent polyester resin process. The IS Yellow is, IMO, a high performance board that comes in a stock size. The significant differences between the two boards are: The Yellow comes with full EVA traction standard, you need to select and add this to the F-18. The Yellow comes in one size, color and shape the only option is fin size. The F-18 has no limitations on any resonable dimension, construction methodology, graphics or available fin. Because of the customization options, the F-18 has to be built to your specifications, whereas the Yellow just needs to be shipped.
