How much weight is too much weight. Is there a point where the wake has hit the max or can u keep adding weight to get it bigger.

I think it depends on boat. We got to a point around 2800lbs that the wake starts to lip up on the passanger side. It also gets to the point where its rediculous to drive without dipping the nose everytime you come to a stop. BTW that's for a MC X1/X2.

Evan,is that 2,800lbs all together or + stock?? I had approx. 38 pop bags and 400lbs-600lbs bag in the walkway + stock ballast. 38 pop bags = 1,520lbs 1 fatsac = no more the 400lbs stock ballast = ???? + 4 people on the boat and that is the most I ever ran....still clean 80'- 85' @23mph WAKE = RIDICULOUS!!

I agree...it depends on the boat. We run the same amount as Evan (2,800) in our Malibu. It could probably take a lot more (23' boat) but I think that close to 3K is plenty.

2000 in my boat (session 22si), and it becomes a little under powered, but it's a heavy boat to began with, and the stock prop. I've talked to a guy with the same boat, who claims 3500 LBS, no problem with a aftermarket prop.

Ed, that's all together. Pretty close to what you were running. Anything more and the boat is just a pig. Any yeah.... the wake is pretty rediculous. Sometimes we'll run more if our crew is light (like only a driver and rider).

Personally I think we've gotten a bit out of control. No one in our crew even wants to ride behind a boat unless it's completely dumped now. It's just so fun to get all that pop and hangtime.

I personally have never got behind a sacked out boat before. Does it take some getting used to with the huge wake or does it have the same shape just more pop?

Most of us don't need that kinda weight. The CIE guys are pretty high end riders. Mine gets completely out of hand for my skills at about 1500 LBS, so ya you'll probably need to get used to big weight

I was going to say..... Now that I think about it,I had 43 pop bags and the fatsac in the walkway on a few occasions. I think my riding suffered b/c it made me scared of the wake.....I think I'm finally recovering from the shock a year ago. Same shape but I would say you have to get used to it.

I've got at least 1500 in sandbags, old weights and concrete, plus I can fill my fat seat on top of that. Big wakes = happy

I was thinking of getting some sacks for when the boat is not as full. We just run the stock tanks and try to invite as many people as possible. We usually have about 6 people on the boat but one day had 12 and the wake was awesome. We all had a blast and now I feel spoiled.

i throw 2000#-2100# of water in my itty bitty response lx. it was gutless prior to the new 13x11.5, 3-blade. we put 600# in the back, 550# on each motor side and 300#-350# in the bow. wake is big and clean to 85' at 23 i think. where are the ballast specs of that camo lsv? i heard it had like 4-5000# of sacks and lead. that would be terrifying. Eubanks....do you know Chris Wynn??? He has the Camo LSV. When we shot "Legends" He had 11 people, 3000 pounds and no wedge in his boat. He also added a grippier prop and 8.1 litre engine. In the winter he plumbed in a Hot Tub. http://www.wakepics.com/img/18192 }

"un-matched" you mean a malibu wake -does any one have a picture of a stock wake and then a "sacked out" wake in the same boat

Ryan- I think people can get the impression that they have too much weight in their boat when they only sink the back and middle of the boat. I've found that if you can keep the nose weighted as well, you can go nuts. I think most would agree.

Rich - Yeah, I've met Chris a couple of times at 66. He and his wife were on JD's boat a few weeks ago and they gave me a pull. They were trying hard to sell me on the new prop! I think JD was running 1,500 over stock with no wedge but that was on the VLX. The wake was tight! I've only run the 2,800 lb. setup a couple of times but it is very nice. It was stock with Pro X v-drive sacs in the back (400 a piece) and a 750 in the bow. With 3 people on the boat the wake was awesome. It actually didn't struggle too much with our stock 537 which surprised me. We might hold off on spending the extra cash on a new prop for now. Chris explained to me that day how to rig up the hot tub. We might have to look into that this winter!
