Been keeping an eye on this wanted to pass work on to anyone who frequently goes there or has a trip planned. The reports are also stating that it is still dumping 550 gallons a minute into the river, that is 33,000 gallons an hour or 792,000 gallons per day and this has been going on since 8/5.
Well the EPA will fine the people who did this millons of dollars and work to put them out of business so they don't do this again. Our government is here to help us and keep us safe from these types of hazards.
The EPA caused this spill. They were doing some work at the mine and caused the breach. Will they fine themselves and put themselves out of business? Not likely. This is going to cost a bunch of money and no one will lose their job over it.
The Navajo Nation is already working on a lawsuit and I'm sure a bunch of small businesses are looking into it as they should. Because like the previous post. The EPA would put the screws to whoever caused this had it been a private company. How many small towns rely on the rivers and lakes that this will affect? Not to mention the aquatic life and wildlife. Truly a bad deal for all.
The people who created this problem are long gone. Even if the EPA hadn't accidentally caused the spill at this time, it was probably going to happen eventually. Apparently water pressure was building up in the mine.
