Nice. Keep us posted on how you like it. That isn't the 6.2 yet, is it?
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-07-2009, 12:47 PM Reply
No its still the 5.4 with 3:73 rears end. I'm actually more interested in seeing how the 3.5 ecoboost does in these trucks than the 6.2.

Nice looking truck!

Is the eco boost going to be an option?

Hate, I now that engine is 310hp compared to the 300hp from 04-08, can you feel a difference? Or I guess you can run flex fuel and get 320hp and 390 tourqe.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-08-2009, 9:22 AM Reply
Steve, Yeah I can feel a difference for sure but it's likely more due to the 6 speed transmission in them now.

Timmy, yes it should be an option for sure by 2011 model year maybe sooner. I was worried about low end torque on that motor but somehow it makes a ton of it.

Shawn, yeah the whole truck is alot more substantial and just flat out bigger. In fact the 6 1/2' bed super crew is and inch larger than the Super Duty with the same size bed.

Ian, I'll try and get some interior shots up today. I took some but they sucked. I love the new interior it's very luxurious especially for a truck.

Thanks Fellas, I didn't even get to pick this one out but my GSM is a good buddy of mine and knows what I like.

Wow.

Always been a ford guy, and with their new stuff coming out, I don't see that changing

Great looking truck. I can't wait till they bring some of the 150 goodies to the 250.

The ecoboost engine will be interesting. I'll be curious to see how it holds up in a truck. Seems like it'll spend a lot of time on-boost. May prove hard on the motor.?.

Where's that 6 cyl diesel everyone's been dreaming of. Any word on that coming?

Hate thats a great looking truck i have a 2005 f-150 with 106,000 miles running strong and still looks brand new (When Its Clean)thinking about a new one maybe the new platinum series i also like the raptor trucks for the kid in me.ford best looking trucks out there IMO.

Rob, I'm very lucky I usually get a new truck every six months to drive for free well except gas. With the hard economic times its been about a year since my last one though.

Evan, that motor was really close infact it was being tested in vehicles but now it's looking like its back on the back burner again. Obviously I don't know anything about the longevity of the ecoboost motor. They did test the shizz out of it but you're right we'll see.

Patrick, Platinums are sick, sick but I prefer the cleaner look of the Lariat still. The Plats are retarded quite on ride though and have those cool power fold steps.

I want your truck!

I'll be in the market for a new truck soon and I'm between the new GMC and your truck pretty much. I've got a 96 Bronco now and love it, but it's about that time.
If you don't mind a little PROS and CONS list would be sweet, especially when it comes to towing. I really wish the diesel was an option, but I'm sure the 6 speed is nice!
Thanks and NICE truck

is it true they are coming out with a diesel option for the new F150s?
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-14-2009, 12:47 PM Reply
Maybe one of these days but not real soon. We were told they were being tested in AK over a year ago and were expected in the 2010's but thats not happening. We'll be seeing the 6.2 and the Ecoboost before the diesel comes out.

Austin, The F150 is flat out the most capable half ton on the market with regards to hauling and towing. Tow rating is 11,300 (across all cab configurations where as GMC's is claimed with a regular cab) with the 3:73 rear end which is allowing me to achieve 16.5 MPG. It has Tow Command with anti sway control which will help you handle your load better and more confidently. Its larger in size with regards to bed length and interior volume, the cabin is flat out huge. I like the GMC too but its not as good we have a very nice 08 here on the lot and side by side the F150 is a lot more truck. Company wise Ford is in great shape didnt take a bailout nor did we BK which means a lot to me and most tax payers. Test drive them both hell tow with em both then make your decision. I wouldn't be surprised if you can get the GMC cheaper but it won't be better. I don't want to come off as if I'm bashing the GMC because again their nice trucks but I much prefer the Ford.

Hate I saw one of those at the boat launch last weekend, it was nearly as big as my megacab.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-14-2009, 2:05 PM Reply
Yeah they're very big but the room in the mega cab is almost limo like in the back. When I sold Dodge's I sold a Mega cab to a dude that had a race team and his brother was in his pit crew he needed the space cuz his bro was 6'8". I'd say the front passenger gets more space in the F150. Its the only vehicle I don't put the seat all the way back in.

Where did you get that 11,300 from? I checked the website and their numbers are all over the board. Its not clear at all, but appears that you can get that tow rating if you configure the right options (but can still use any cab type)? Not every f150 with a 5.4 v8 can haul 11,300.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-15-2009, 9:18 AM Reply
Kevin, with the 3:73 rear end its 11,300 I'm sorry it does drop to 11,200 super cab and 11,100 super crew. If you go with a smaller rear end such as the 3:55 you'll see tow ratings in the mid to upper 9's this is for 4x4's.
If you do a 4x2 and 3:73's then you're at 11,300 across the board. This require the Max Trailer tow package.

OK, I see. (I wasnt trying to call you out on the 11300 vs 11100) it just was a confusing chart, and a broad statement of 11xxx seems like more dealer BS. Sorry, I just got done buying a vehicle and the whole experience is sickening. (no offense to you- just sweeping generalizations)

I did forget to mention that is a beautiful truck. My Brother in law just picked up a 10 platinum. Pearl white with a 6 1/2 box. Its a mack daddy truck for sure.

Is the 6.2 Engine going to be strictly an option for the Rapture when its available or are they going to make it an option for the other editions of the truck as well?

Great looking truck looks pretty much identical to the 09' i have sitting at home.

Yeah it's to be an option for regular F150's as well and will replace the V10 on the Super Dutys.

What are you a salesman or something? Drive both and a GMC is a much nicer ride. The new F-150 can haul so much cause it feels like a 3/4 ton when driving it.
Old     (hatepain)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-15-2009, 7:36 PM Reply
Yep it's a truck. It has a great ride quality but you're right its not as soft as the Chevy/GMC but some people prefer a truck to be truck like. Somethings gotta offset the air conditioned seats for crying out loud.
