I'm upgrading my ballast system. The pumps and hoses I want to put in are 3/4 inch. The two through hull intakes that are in the boat are only 1/2 inch. I was planning on simply using a reducing coupler, but will this significantly restrict the flow and ultimately the speed at which the sacs fill? Damn me and not taking Engineering Hydraulics in university. Is it worth replacing the 1/2 inchers with 3/4 inch through hull intakes? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
