A 2005 malibu wakesetter vlx with center ballast, two rear ballast tanks, and the wedge. I am 5'2" 95lbs if it helps.

(Message edited by brody on June 10, 2007)

dlwsrider 06-10-2007 9:25 PM

dang man, thats a sick set up.

if the wake is a little big for you, fill up half of the rear ballast and all of the center, and ride at 65 feet at 22.5 mph

dlwsrider 06-10-2007 9:28 PM

i wakeskate too! but i threw in some wakeboarding shots.

these are also from when i was 14, i havnt had a good shot in 9 months

(Message edited by dlwsrider on June 10, 2007)

brody 06-10-2007 9:41 PM

what trick is the first shot? What wakeskate for me?

(Message edited by brody on June 10, 2007)

dlwsrider 06-10-2007 9:45 PM

thats another tantrum that i just got bored and hauled into the flats. I like tantrums, their fun and easy to grab.

for 200 dollars you can get a liquid force armada 41" and get some nice DVS shoes (dvs triumphs) on sale at www.libertyboardshop.com

thats my set up and im loving it man, its sick

brody 06-10-2007 9:54 PM

Will the 41 fit me? And is there much of a difference between that and the Faction or Anthem. They come in the 40in.

(Message edited by brody on June 10, 2007)

dlwsrider 06-10-2007 10:01 PM

the faction and anthem are definantly the lower end models and trust me, the extra money is WELL worth it.

and yes, the 41 would be perfect for you.

you can grow into it and since its a very strong skate, you will be able to keep it for years to come.

brody 06-10-2007 10:05 PM

cool, thank you, what should i learn on the skate first, and i have a partial background of skateboarding. I can kickflip, varial flip, 360 shuvit, frontside and backside 180, etc.

nathan_from_downunder 06-10-2007 10:06 PM

16 and 4 months from gold coast australia

dlwsrider 06-10-2007 10:12 PM

the skate is an animal of its own, trust me.

the skate background will help you ollie and stuff like that, but really, just learn 1 wake and stuff like that, same as wakeboarding, but when you feel fairly comfortable on the board, go for shuv its.

man, i can 360 flip sets and hardflip hip ramps on a skateboard but i just started stomping consistant 360 shuvs on the wakeskate, its hard to learn, but its totally worth it, soooooo much fun

kiwi1 06-11-2007 3:33 AM

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 6:12 PM

Nice Victoria!

Im glad florida is treating you so nicely haha. any plans for the future? maybe an appereance in a chick flick sequel or somtehing like that?

kiwi1 06-11-2007 6:26 PM

I have a small part in the 1st. ChickFlick, putting together some other vids now......

trickyboarder08 06-11-2007 6:32 PM

I'm 17 from Texas. I'm stuck behind an '01 outboard Hurricane. Sucks but i can land a backroll everytime, and can do 360 and tantrums. Working on the scarecrow and raley. Anybody from Texas that needs a third?

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 6:47 PM

serious? dang i havnt seen it yet but now i have too.

what other videos? you cant be secretive about your success.

and i just looked at the ten-80 sight, thats sick, you got an interview and everything, lol

lespaul 06-11-2007 6:52 PM

dang you guys all look really good. I'm pretty terrible all i can do is wake jump barely. Buti've only been doin it for a year or so now and where i live (Leesburg, VA) isn't the best spot in the world to ride lol. look it up on google maps and you'll see what i mean.

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 6:56 PM

haha dude brad its cool, its all about having fun anyways right?

and remember, the best pros in the world couldnt even jump the wake at one time!

lfboarder94 06-11-2007 7:03 PM

Hey brad im with you, im in the middle of nj and im just learning how to clear the wake. I landed it my first time this weekend and am going to keep working at it. This to is my second season

brody 06-11-2007 7:28 PM

Here is my families boat:

And Caleb, here is the wakeskate setup I will probably buy as long as they have it my Local board shop:
http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/5uRtD
http://www.buywake.com/catalog/detail/AM_NYuPt

(Message edited by brody on June 11, 2007)

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 7:34 PM

dude chris thats a nice boat

brody 06-11-2007 7:40 PM

I made it on the malibu website (build-a-boat) just goofing around because we needed a boat, and my dad hit the send to dealer button and he decided to buy it when the boat got their (the dealer=their).

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 7:50 PM

thats awesome man, you made a darn good boat haha.

one of my good friends has an 03 wakesetter and i ride 75 feet at 24 mph, butgo for about 65 feet at 22 mph and you should feel alot more comfortable man

brody 06-11-2007 7:58 PM

its an '05, not really tricked out much, just to the point of what we need, unlike other boats with giant amps and 16 tower speakers, lol. What boat, caleb, do you ride behind?

(Message edited by brody on June 11, 2007)

bbking 06-11-2007 8:01 PM

haha this thread has become a conversation between caleb and chris...

how many times has everyone gone out this season? this is gonna be my... 9th time on thursday

dlwsrider 06-11-2007 8:08 PM

pffffft brett so what if i like to talk

and ive been out to many times to count this season, i normally ride 3-4 times a week and ive been keeping that up since march

chris, my dad is a slalom skier so i ride behind an 02 crossover nautique, similiar to the 211.

and i ride 70 feet at 22 behind it.

but lately i have been riding behind a 21v supra and the malibu.

and theres nothing like throwing that new trick to the sound of your best tunes man, of course tower speakers are imporant!

power_rider 06-11-2007 8:09 PM

14 from ohio. any other ohio kids on here and are you near Wooster or loudinville ohio.

brody 06-11-2007 8:25 PM

I've only gone out once over memorial weekend, the wakeboard bug has bitten me over and over and I need to get out. Over the 4th of July, i will head up to Lake Nacimiento, then to Lake Almanor the week after that. I will hopefully do some day trips between now and then too.

ridethewake08 06-11-2007 10:08 PM

I have been able to go out every weekend since the beginning of June...im pretty lucky...

kiwi1 06-12-2007 4:07 AM

Who's going to Nationals in Wisconsin?? Y'all better show up!! It's up to all of us, we're the next generation!!!

woohoo 06-12-2007 6:12 AM

I havn't gone out since school ended which was like a month ago, I get to stay on the lake all next week though which is sweet! I've been riding for a little over a year and I can only do grabs, when i try a 180 I slide out every time and on 3's the board ends up behind I make the handle pass though. Oh and I ride behind a Larson I/O with no tower or pole.

woohoo 06-12-2007 6:13 AM

Haha lets see if we can compete with the NJ riders thread and keep this thing going.

kiwi1 06-12-2007 6:20 AM

Erin, do you compete?

eas 06-12-2007 6:40 AM

*quick hijack*

you guys need to take note of Caleb's attitude, his friendliness and willingness to help others and spread his stoke for wakeboarding. i know a lot of you young guys and girls are interested in getting sponsored, and he is definitely the type of person sponsors like. i've never been sponsored but i know several guys who have and they are more interested in having fun and helping grow the sport than throwing that next mobe.

big props caleb...nice riding...and refreshing to see a young ripper having fun and helping other up and comers.

have fun...go big...later...

kiwi1 06-12-2007 7:57 AM

You have to keep a positive attitude..but you still have to throw down, consistency, and persistance is what gets noticed..

eas 06-12-2007 8:09 AM

no doubt...you have to be able to lay it down when it counts...but when you ride all the time and keep it fun, it seems that the tricks take care of themselves....at least with the guys i know.

kiwi1 06-12-2007 8:17 AM

Guys yeah, girls, we're a little slower, we think to much.....but I did land a switch crow yesterday!!

ridethewake08 06-12-2007 8:42 AM

Vik,
I have done one comp. which was 2 summers ago...
and right now i believe I'm going to sign up for three.

what about you?

kiwi1 06-12-2007 8:52 AM

I've done 9 comps this year, podiums at all 9!!!

ridethewake08 06-12-2007 10:10 AM

thats awesome! congrats.
Im not in a major wakeboarding location so there are never very many comps. around me.
I make do with what i have! :-)

kiwi1 06-12-2007 10:13 AM

Competing takes alot of travel.

lfboarder94 06-12-2007 12:24 PM

im looking foward to competing for my first time in late june, any good tips

goatroper222000 06-12-2007 12:52 PM

i live in florida, so ive rode every weekend and 2-3 times during the week since...well...all year.

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:10 PM

Vik, just wondering, how many miles have you logged in on traveling to tournaments so far?

and thanks Eric, i love seeing other people progress and its nice to know that if someone i helped makes it big, i had a hand in it haha.

Mike - The first and most important thing is to look over the rules of the tournament and make sure you know them well.

after that make a list of all the tricks you can do, after you have done this, pick out the ones that you are most comfortable with, but also worth the most points.

plan out your run so that your tricks are linked together, for example, after you do a heelside trick, follow it up with a toeside trick, and do that till the end of your pass. As a judge, it annoys me when a rider lands a heelside trick and then runs back across the wake and does another one. By linking your tricks, it makes you look alot better and shows the judges how well rounded you are.

Start off your run with a trick that is good, that you can land every time, and that will impress the judges. The first trick of my pass every time is a Big tantrum, i know i can land it every time, it impresses the judges and starts them off on a good impression. By doing this, you build confidence for the rest of your run.

But like i said, the most important part is to have fun. I have met some of my best friends through tournaments, dont get so focused on your run that you lose sight of the fun

GOOD LUCK MIKE!

kiwi1 06-12-2007 1:33 PM

probably 4000 miles so far this year...not over yet, nationals,Wisconsin..nationals, NewYork..Worlds,Nevada..Tige ProAm,Mexico..Worlds,Qatar..and little trips in between..I'm tired already, but lovin' it, and livin' it !!!

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:38 PM

you are going to the Qatar stop?

thats sick!

i would love to be riding the tour and hitting those stops with you by my senior year but i still have alot to learn before i start riding with the pros.

i rode in a sketchy rail demo with jeff house and aaron rathy but thats the closest i have ever come to riding with the pros. When i say sketchy, i mean the starter pool was 15 feet long.... literally we measured, it was shorter than the truck that held the winch

Are gator and your major sponsers helping with the travel expenses? cause that could be some pretty gnarly cash on gas

(Message edited by dlwsrider on June 12, 2007)

kiwi1 06-12-2007 1:45 PM

Sponsors help, without them, it would not be possible...I'm not riding Pro yet..I was going to this year, but I wanted to get a few more tech tricks first...Riding Am has it's benefits too...As someone who knows said "It's a journey"...Next year, Pro all the way!!!

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:47 PM

thats awesome!

im hoping to be a really good AM or a crappy pro in 2 years lol.

you ride rails too?

kiwi1 06-12-2007 1:52 PM

Rails all the time..Behind boat, cable, and winch..Rails are 30% of score.

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:54 PM

thats cool, arkansas is the way you left it as far as rails go.

someone left a rainbow rail on our lake and its kinda stupid but its better then nothing.

me and clay did build this gnarly uprail thats super sketchy though.

it hasnt seen any water time yet as we forgot to make sure it could float before we built it....

oopsds92 06-12-2007 1:55 PM

wat tricks do u need to do to have a good run in an am/ junior men competition?

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:57 PM

oh and chris, thats a good set up, you will definantly love the skate and the shoes

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 1:59 PM

dane: 7's, a few mobes, grabbed 5's and i hear there are junior men's riders throwing 9's now....

kiwi1 06-12-2007 2:14 PM

All that and then some, Jr. Men are trying to make their stake at Pro, they throw the same tricks as Pros. 7's, 9's, crow 5's, whirly 5's, mobes everywhere!!

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 2:16 PM

what vik said

lfboarder94 06-12-2007 2:56 PM

hey vik thats awesome your planing on going pro next year, i hope ill be seing you in wakeboarding mag one day.

brody 06-12-2007 3:43 PM

is anyone here still in school because it seems like posts are coming on at 10:00, 12:00, 1:00, etc. I end on the 20th which is part of the reason i havn't been able to get out much.

kiwi1 06-12-2007 3:50 PM

I'm in this months Wakeboarding mag. I was on Shaun Murray's team at Wake Games, we took 1st. I also took 2nd. in Jr. Womens. We were on Fuel TV last night...pretty cool!!

ridethewake08 06-12-2007 4:15 PM

vik,
i was wondering how you got all your hook ups? major props. you are 2 years younger than me and have accomplished way more than i have and most likely ever will ha ha...where you are at right now, is my goal.

kiwi1 06-12-2007 4:20 PM

Lot of hard work, determination. Started competing on National level, getting exposure, ride, ride, ride. Get the tricks down to be able to compete consistently...Long road, but lot's of fun!!

kiwi1 06-12-2007 4:23 PM

The more girls that get on the scene, the more people take notice, then we can start getting some of the perks the Jr.Men, and boys get...So, C'MON girls!!!

dlwsrider 06-12-2007 8:05 PM

psssh vik your already getting more perks than most people on the site

wakechic06 06-13-2007 12:18 AM

I'm 19 from WA. I'm lookin for some expirenced riders that can show me a thing or two about taking my riding to the next level. You younger (13, 14, 15ish) are tearin it up! Atta kid(s)!

kiwi1 06-13-2007 6:47 AM

Hey y'all...you should all come to Nationals, it's the qualifier for Worlds. Ride good, and you could get a spot at Reno, NV.

woohoo 06-13-2007 7:28 AM

Wow, VIK is killing it already doing that much that's very cool.

wakeboardnchica 06-13-2007 7:39 AM

goatroper222000 06-13-2007 10:57 AM

Is anyone on here in the tallahassee area?? i really need some more people that are better than me to ride with. i think if i found someone better i would be pushed and progress faster.

cln 06-13-2007 3:22 PM

I'm the driver for Michael "splash" Necky. He's the bomb.

dlwsrider 06-13-2007 4:22 PM

dane - the whole deal is still super sketchy and nothing is for certain.

oopsds92 06-13-2007 4:49 PM

caleb, if he gets on ronix that would be tight!

dlwsrider 06-13-2007 7:17 PM

yeah he just turned 16

brody 06-13-2007 8:45 PM

I guess here in the OC we get out later, that freakin suck, but hopefully next year in high school we will get out earlier.

dlwsrider 06-13-2007 9:36 PM

i hit my first tantrum to revert tonight

i fell on another one and then hit 7 in a row
