The J-bars really lock your heels down which really give you complete responsiveness. It takes a few sets to break them in but once they are, they feel like extensions of your feet. The velcro strap is durable and doesn't break down when wet. Just be gentle on the laces when tightening them up since they are a little thinner than last years Format bindings.

The "J" ankle pads, combined with the TPU ankle strap really lock you in. Absolutely, no heel lift at all which makes the board much more responsive. Very good ankle support for those that like a stiff binding. They do take a little time to break in, and seem to be easier to get into when they are dry.
