2008 Byerly Monarch 54
Scott and Butch have done it again! The Byerly Monarch is the newest addition to the family. With input from Robby, Ross and Kyle, Butch set out to build his best shape yet. Beginning with a mellow blended 3-stage rocker and shorter 9 molded fins, this shape is faster and releases off the wake quicker than previous Byerly models. New molded footbed contours keep the board rigid in the center to maintain the rocker line for consistent pop. The board then blends into a lean tip and tail for maximum flex and snap off the wake and when initiating edges. In addition to the new shape, the Monarch also features fully machined Atomic Core. This material is lighter, snappier and stronger than traditional foam core boards. At 6 lbs. this is Scotts lightest shape to date and one of the lightest on the market.

I have used several of the Byerly boards over the years but this one is far and away better than the rest; it really ticks all the boxes.
While this is an advanced board I have had beginners on it, who have ridden it with ease.
It is expensive but well worth the money if you want a great board.

Considering my skill level, I assumed this board would be too aggressive for me. I could not have been more wrong. This board has a loose feel (its finless) but edges very hard. It has incredible pop and still manages to land extremely soft (even in the flats). I would absolutely recommend this board!

Awsome board, once you get used to it. I came from a continuous rocker so it took a few rides to get used to the 3-stage. Also the weight of the board takes a bit to get used to. Pops great and lands extremely soft. Great ride

well your actually paying for the divinicell core, which is the same machined pvc core as in HO’s high-end slalom skis, which cost $800. The cost of the high-end material combined with a new construction process is why the price is so high

Great Board. Feels great on edge and releases well. It is everything you would want in a board except price... NOT worth $700. You are spending about 300 on the name and the name isn’t worth it.
