2008 Hyperlite Roam 144
The Roam is a jib-friendly creation that carries the snowboard season through to summer. Designed for more of a knees-bent, edge-to-edge style of riding, this series allows a rider to rely on the profile of the board to set a turn and hold an edge. Who needs fins anyway?

This is not a beginners board and as such should not be your first purchase. It has zero fins with an abrupt continuous rocker so... it is very very slick on the water. It does not track very well due to the lack of fins but is still controllable. The Roam is catch free on sliders/rails. This board is probably the very best at surface tricks. If you want to quickly learn surface 180’s and surface 360s or ride cuffed without constantly catching an edge, then this is your board. The Roam is fast. It teaches you how to use your edge more effectively than any other board, because it "forces" you to. After you master this board you will be a better rider on anything else. I think this board is a must for those that want to improve their skill on edge but only after they have been riding for awhile. The Roam is a very effective training aid that is very fun to ride. It is best on very smooth water, it does not like any kind of chop at all. The Roam is also not a very good wake to wake rider as the landings can be a bit sketchy. I like to ride the Roam on very calm water when all I want to do is butter out the board doing surface tricks, at this the Roam excels, for anything else get a different board.

This board is like the only onwater training add out there. It will make you a better rider and show you were your weakness are. Once you have it down you’ll be able to do more on it then a normal board. After just a few hours on it I was able to take the fins off my parks and ride better then I ever did with the fins. So you want a board that will help you improve your foundation then buy it.
