2008 Slingshot Recoil 142
The Slingshot Recoil is designed for riders, like Global Team Rider Jeff McKee, looking for the traditional aggressive pop found in three stage rocker boards. It is the first aggressive, top of the line, wake to wake style deck to feature Slingshots Future Response Technology. FRT is an industry first technology that delivers flex control, rebound, energy and pop.
The Recoil is hard hitting at the wake for unmatched pop while offering you butter soft landings. The outline and rocker have been perfectly matched to take maximum advantage of a progressive pull to the wake. The bottom shape is an elliptical concave on both tips with a flat and even area between the feet for smooth and steady edge to edge control.
NEW for '08, Slingshot introduces the 4-P Insert Pack to the full board line up. This insert pack accommodates Slingshot specific boots or any industry standard binding. Riders can now choose to ride the D2, PB Floyd, Jewel or older style 8 bindings of their choice. Freedom is key!
On rails because the board is so thin and has steel edges when you do board slides it grabs the rail as the edges dig into the rail. constantly pulled me forward. I even tried to detune the edges like on a snowbaord but this didnt elimiate the problem. Did not like it for rails other than the flex for nose and tail presses. Hopefully 09 or 10 ranges will sort that problem out.
As for behind the boat, this board is way to big. they need to slim down the tip and tail. Very slow transition edge to edge. Plus the 142 is about a 145. If you buy this board buy one size smaller than you are used to.
On the positive side the flex tech definately felt good when you load the lineand ollie off the wake. I just need to find the right shape for me and hopefully they will elimiate the edge grabbing when board and lip sliding on rails
Then I tried the Slingshot and I new I had my new board. Same pop as the Watson but with the softest landings I have experienced so far. The board is not as fast as the Lyman, but it’s still a lot of fun. Nose & tail presses are a blast with the flex technology. Although this board is the lightest on the market, you can tell the construction quality is top notch, made locally in WA. Try several boards and you’ll appreciate this one even more. Make sure you ride it for a couple of sets to really get used to it. Once you do, I doubt you’ll go back.
