2008 Gator Boards Gonzalez
The much awaited closed-toe Ricky Gonzalez binding is now out. Built atop our new Gator True One Piece Plate. This binding is strong and very light - the lightest closed-toe in the industry. We used a snowboard boot-like molded liner with more padding and very soft Boomerang Shaped Heel Kidneys. These heel kidneys support the Achilles tendon and run down the round joint of your ankle making a perfect heel pocket and keeping the back of your foot in place. The whole closed-toe liner is designed to support your foot and give you more response down into your board. A more finished dual layered stretch zone was also used for a more stable feel when on your heel side edge. This Dual layer stretch zone, in combination with the closed toe design, gives you a quicker binding to board reaction. No more loss of leverage due to stretchy open toe bindings. The EVA foot bed has a cupped design for better response in pressured areas. Also, the foot bed has drainage holes, which drain down the bottom of the plate and out the back of the heel through a non-obtrusive arch.
We at Gator Boards are super stoked to see smiles on everyone who tries a pair of these bindings on. Attention to detail, we used high-end materials on this binding with actual laser engraved details etched into the newbuck material. Embroidered art matches Rickys newly shaped board with traditional tattoo inspired artwork. |

Overall a good binding. Very comfortable and super light. Easy on and off. Flex if you like that (I do). Worst lace locks I have seen(they break)...so I have replaced them.
Good snug fit...I have to be carefull not to pull the laces too tight or they won’t release on a bad fall. Great hold...you can ride all day in them.

Great bindings for the price. No pressure points, heels stay down, inserts are plush. I haven’t ridden them long enough to destroy them but easy entry and exits and nothing to complain about when you are riding. They are also nice and light.
