2005 Hyperlite Phriction 108
A new line of wood concave wakeskates. Parks Bonifay designed a series that has all of the feel of the classic skate style deck and the durability you would expect from a Hyperlite product. The hard durometer EVA has the concave and kicktail found in the Byerly model at a much more affordable value.

Well, I have to say that I actually enjoyed riding this board. It is ugly and bulky, but it seems to perform quite well. Granted I’m a noob. But I got right up on it and can carve like a master. It slides out a bit sure, but thats fun. It feels solid too. Super grippy and It’s the first board I have successfully ollied on. I love Omen’s and Integrity’s, but this board is a good alternative for a cheapskate like me.

This skate just flat out sucks! I hate to bash a hyperlite product, but it truly sucks. The board has absolutely no tracking to it. It slips out when one is just riding straight. Lip tricks are nearly impossible. Also it is rediculously heavy! Forget about doing big clean shuv’s. Wake to wake on this board sucks! Because it is so heavy it tends to fall off of your feet. And because the skate has the worst tracking in the world, landing is frickin hard. Another problem is that this skate is floppy and limp. You can feel the skate flex when you go over a tiny little chop. Stiffer is Better. To be completely honest the only hyperlite skates worth getting are the catalyst and the new byerly. DO NOT BUY A HYPERLITE PHRICTION WAKESKATE!!Cassette skates are way better than hyperlite ones. 4-track or Bi-Level hands down.
