2003 Liquid Force Substance 41
When Shawn began brainstorming about this design, his ideas were all over the map. One thing he knew, though, was that he wanted a board that would be more precise than his former pro model. While working on the new designs, he and Jimmy began to realize that his new shape was not only going to be better for him, but for the general rider as well. The new shape they were coming up with sat a bit lower in the water, still bucked off the wake like the Helix, yet edged with ease. The results were pretty obvious to them and now they will be to the rest of the world. In Shawns first month of riding a production version of his new shape, he won the WWA Nationals. His riding has become more explosive, more fluid and hes having the time of his life on his Substance. You may not win Nationals on this board, but we guarantee each session will feel like a winning performance.

If you have the board with a good setup then it rides great and feels smooth and natural! But the board feels kinda like a contour board and looks like one but it is a fun board!

This board is killer, It’s rare for me to just jump on a new board & start killing it right away but that’s exactly what I did on my first ride on this one. The board rails hard into the wake never sketching out at all & the pop is incredible. Much better for releasing off the wake than the trip series. I should say the spinning score I Gave may not be fair becasue I have yet to pull the center fins to see if it’d help me.

First I’d like to point out that I’m quite tall (6’2 at 182 lbs) and unlike most other riders here, I don’t wakeboard behind a boat, but on a cable lift (http://www.wildwakeski.de) in southern Germany instead. Cable riding typically calls for shorter and slightly different boards. Before deciding on buying the Liquid Force Substance 41, I did a whole lot of test riding and research to find the board that suits me best. Amongst others, I specifically tested it against the LF Team 139 and the LF Balance 35 and 40. What’s so great about the Substance is that it basically rides like a carving snowboard and there is hardly any limit to the pressure you can put on the edge while not having it slip. Due to the very long based, deep, molded-in side fins and the deep, aggressive rocker it tracks extremely well but still makes very tight turns like a much shorter board. Of course the molded fins are great for sliders and kickers too. Additionally to the perfect riding, the red design just looks great, especially with a pair of blue LF UltraSuction Bindings :-) Can’t express how much I love this board and am sure you will too - definitely you should give it a try!

Finless this board still tracks with the best of them. Great for spinning, soft landings in the flats, and great pop of the wake.

Best board I’ve ridden yet. Tracks fast but still loose at the same time. Great pop and soft landings. If your thinking about buying this board you wont regret it!!!

This board has great characteristics to become a great board, however it has a weak spot in the lower section of the board. I broke the board on my second ride. A buddy of mine has broken two of them in the same exact spot. If they fix the weak spot the substance will be a great performing board.

This is the board for all to envy! Awesome tracking with the ability to break loose for the free riding feel. Pop is smooth and floats you so you can style out your grabs. Landings are forgiving. This board deserves all it’s hype. Representin for the LF MILITIA

This is the best board I’ve ridden so far. For a beginner I’ve ridden a lot of boards. This board tracks well, edges almost too easy, pops high and floaty but not too bucky and has the perfect speed into the wake. The 3-stage rocker is really easy to figure out. The board rolls over faster than the balance but just as smooth, and it breaks free easily. Bottom Line, it’s a premier with tons more pop, and a litte easier to ride. SICK ASS BOARD!!
