2003 Hyperlite Byerly 142
In the last three years Scott Bouchard and I have designed eight different shapes with Hyperlite. The designs we've come up with have helped create the idea for the Premier series and the Parks series, plus boards from some of the other guys. We know what works, and we're always trying to come up with the freshest ideas.
I didn't want to change my shape for this year because my line of boards does everything I was looking for. My board gets so much traction from the deep molded-in outer fins, cupped rails, and the two-tier rail. A Byerly board has a lot of grip, but it still releases quickly off the wake because the center fin is only 1.2" deep. My pro model still has the "Byerly pop", explosive, abrupt, whatever you want to call it - it suits my style. It also lands a lot softer with the center beam in the middle. The Byerly series is a classic feel of an abrupt snap off the wake to a controlled tight feel on the water. Scott continues to bring an innovative vision to wakeboarding on the water and in the shaping room. |

this is a sick board. Its really sharp on the rails and tails which means its gonna be aggressive and theres a little less room for error when coming down sketchy off a big launch. It bites like a shark but lands like a dove. the center beam really breaks the the water and im sure if tehre were any sliders at my lake it would take most of the beating. boards pretty tight

this board sends you. it is not inconsistent, you are. if you hit the wake correctly it will launch you and land you perfectly. great speed and tracking, even for us big boys.

This board rule! I love having the option of riding it with or without fins. The jib base is amazing for sliding. I have tried several board but this one is the best.

Love this board, but miss the pop from my 2001. Tracks like crazy with the fins in and is nice and loose for those butter days without. The landings are the softest ever.

I thought I really liked this board until I tried something better, it’s a decent board, but it was just way too slow for me, and I found the pop to be inconsistant.

The byerly 142 is my fave in the hyperlite line. Lets face it, Hyperlite knows what works. The byerly is a locked in board that can be loose if you take off the fins. The landings are super soft with the little V bottom.

This board rocks. I ride without the center fin. That gives you an idea of how good the tracking is on this board. I have had 4 different riders go out and buy this board after they rode mine

The big rocker makes the board a bit slower but the pop is awesome. You need to learn how to ride this board on the rails. After my first set i took off the fins because it had too much grip for me. It works perfectly finless and has a nice loose feel.

What can I say, its a hyperlite, so it has to be perfect. Sweet board. Awsome pop!, soft landings, and reeeeely quick on the water. Its kinda heavy, but the pop more than makes up for it. Trust me, it launches your a$$. If your looking for a solid board, GO WITH THE BYERLY!!!!!!!!!!

Faster than last years Byerly. Still throws you more up than out which takes some getting used to but you won’t lack hangtime with this one just make sure you carry the wake or it can hurt landing on the flat spot. The ’03 also stalls if you land on the flat spot and are not moving fast enough so go fast or else. Feels great finless, spins pretty good, and slides really well with the new jib base. Better than last years for sure but still too much pop vs speed for me. I am a Premier fan for sure now as it blends the Belmont speed and soft landings with the Byerly pop and molded fins to give the right combo of up and out when you hit the wake.

what can i say it’s a byerly board...who needs speed when u have a 3 stage rocker with a HUGE flaty spot that bucks u straight up in the air...great board...simply love it...if your just starting out...don’t use this...for advancedy’s and pro’s...you youngins can’t hanndle the explosive POP.

This board is just the wheeze. It makes my old board seem like a lump of concrete. The first time I hit the wake on it I got so much air I chickened out and bailed. Im no pro but this board made an instant difference to my riding, its the single best thing I did to improve so far! If you like fine things in your life then this board is for you, its SWEET!

A very good board. I enoy my 2001 Byerly finless a little more, but this is the next best thing. The soft landings are very nice, although a little bit of pop was sacraficed to obtain them. I think it was a fair trade off though.
