2002 Hyperlite Byerly 137 DNA
Some new innovation, and an even more explosive pop. Scott’s new seriescontinues to push the limits of rail riding shapes. Designed for riderslooking for the right amount of finesse on the water and bucking abilityoff the water. If only this board came stock with the Byerly style.
I have always tried to create my own sriders out there pull tricks that I invented, and a lot of boards havefeatures that Scott Bouchard and I thought up. From cupped rails,molded-in fins, 3-stage rocker, vented channels to step down rails, I havealways tried to push board designs. I have already come up with a coupleof different shapes with Hyperlite that had their own traits.
For this year we combined it all into one, and of course Bouchard and Iadded some new innovation. This new series has the feel of my rail rideshapes, but with a detachable center fin you can still get all the gripyou need. We went to a deeper and thinner profiled outer molded-in finand I think it just makes the board track purer. Hyperlite also reducedthe amount of sidecut by widening the tip/tail profile .25". The biggestdifference was we added a molded-in center beam. My boards have always hada solid snap off the wake, now they just land a lot softer because thebeam helps push the water away on landings.

I really like this board, it is a little difficult to get used to when you first use it, and I wish it was a little wider at the top but I love this board and haven’t had any problems with it, or its performance!

I was riding a HC Hamilton and CWB Spy before I got this board and now I won’t ride anything else. This board will teach you to edge correctly and then buck you up like never before. HUGE pop and soft landings. Forget about the rest and buy the best....the Byerly rules.

I just came off a HC Vero and it’s a pretty big difference. I didn’t like the way the board carved. I thought it required too much weight on the back to get a good edge. It will definitely buck off the wake. I like the board but went ahead and bought the 02 DNA Premier and the 02 DNA Belmont. I think the 137 might have been a little small for me but I enjoyed getting bounced off the wake so it’s now a part of my collection. This review was after 1 day on the board so keep that in mind. I may figure it out and post a whole new review in a month or two. hehe

This board has super soft landings!! I normally ride a liquid force trip, but the byerly 137 tears it up!! Oh yeah, and make sure you get the new Bonifay bindings.

this board rips, it is by far the best board i have ever ridden, liquid force sucks, stay away from that, Hyperlite and O’Brien ride, if only Shapiro or Harris rode this board........
