2002 Hyperlite Belmont 141 DNA
A one-board quiver. Depending on the water conditions or the riders moodthat day, the boards personality can adapt by changing the finconfiguration. Shaun’s new shape is the next progression of freerideshapes with a mellower overall feel, but with additional traction & stability.
In the last 6 years I have designed 10 different pro models in all thedifferent size ranges. This time has given me the ability to betterunderstand the hydrodynamics of a dude on a board. I spent the betterpart of the 2001 off-season working on my new ride.
I had more fun designing this series than any other because I was thinkingof the total overall feel. I wanted to have a board that released when Iwanted it to, and tracked like a mutha’. When we added the deeper outsidefins and got rid of the molded-in fins the board started to pop off thewake like I never felt. We also moved the fins in .8" further from therail for a quicker release off the wake. I can ride my edge as hard as Iwant to and when its time to bust it loose, well there’s no problem there.I can’t wait to see everyone else’s version of my board, it’s very flattering.
Thanks to my brothers neighbor Rob for coming up with the graphics.

For me - this board is perfect. If you want bucking pop, don’t buy it, but if you want consistent pop and want a board that tracks well and lands soft, this is it. It’s a real confindence inspiring board - love it.

This is a good board, I used it for a year, and the old belmont b4 it. Only one problem: It cracked in half on me after a year without any reason. I have never done sliders with it or nething. It just broke. I know someone who has gone thru 4 of these that cracked in the same place. Do not get this board, it will crack if u ride enough. I am also very disapointed with hyperlites quality, my parks bindings have ripped twice on me, and my belmont was supposed to be replaced 2 weeks ago when it has now been a month. I couldnt wait that long so i went out and demoed a couple boards and found out that i like a different type of board feel neway. I bought a Ricky Pro Gator Board, the best board i have ever ridden, it is good to support the smaller companies i have come to realize, u know every yuppy will buy LF or Hyperlite, support the underdog.

There is a reason this board is the most expensive of all the hyperlite models and now I know why. I have 3 2002 DNA boards, (Byerly 137, Premier 140 and the Belmont 141) and this one is my fav. It cuts and carves better than any board I have ever been on. The Byerly pops better off the wake but the Belmont lands softer. It’s a great all around board will be my primary until I can get some deals on the 2003 DNA line. hehe :-p
