2001 O'Brien Suspect
Guilty of being one of the best new boards you will find. The Suspect is a combination of rider and engineer calibration and the end result is something you must ride to understand. Multi-channel ends that actually control the water rather than try to direct it, makes this board hold a strong edge. The control channels then fade into the dual concave center-body that disperses the water upon impact. The results: soft landings with great edge control on a board that everyone will out perform themselves on!

This board also reminds me of the Phatty I used to ride. It also reminds me of the Byerly type pop it has. It is stable in tracking but can break it loose pretty easy. I am a large rider and and like the wide width of the board so me feet do not hang off. It spins well and landings are fairly soft. All around I really like this board.

this board is pretty quick, and can get you out in the flats with less effort than most boards. it has great pop off the wake and is quite light and easy to spin. pops just as well as the premier but much faster and less money. a great board.

This board rides great. Very much like the phatty but with better tracking and response. Great board for riders weighing 130 lbs. or over. Rides well with or without fins.

This is the best board I have ridden to date. This board has alot of nice features. Its width reminds me of the phatty, but the concave hull and molded fins make it so much better. I did not think pop could get much better than the phatty, but this board proved me wrong. The swallow tails also made a huge difference with edging and tracking. The one problem I found was that my binding bolts were too long for the holes. All else tore up the water. It also tracked great in chop.

I had a chance to demo this board on request from my dealer. I liked what I encountered when I got it on the water. It is a very wide board, but handled very nice and responsive. The bottom is like the Belmont with built in side fins on each end. This gave it great stability riding both directions. The pop was great on this board also. I was very pleased with the board and would recommend it for any rider. The one problem I found was that the holes for the binding bolts were too shallow for regular bolts. I didn’t have short bolts with me and had to round up some washers to make the bolts fit. I showed this to my dealer and he said O’Brien was supposed to fix this problem. I guess they missed that one. Aside from that, it is a great board.

I have owned several boards over the years, and this board is great for all you want to do. Even with it’s width, very easy to come around on your inverts and the landings are gravy. This board tracks so well it will save many landings that you would have dumped on another board!! Reminds me of the PHATTY with better tracking and more pop!
