I don't know how the ballast is separated but it has like 1200lbs in 4 tanks, all separate so like you can load up one side or front to back. For a direct drive it is a fantastic wake for boarding/surfing yet you still get a okay wake to ski behind for a 23 ft boat with ton's of room. We love it cause it can do it all......The stereo could use some up grades but you can do that at home. The walk threw stern is a real ease. A ride/pull is worth alot of words.

my friend has this boat..its a pretty sick boat..its got a sick tower.. the same as malibu uses on its wakesetter.. the sound system is ok.. shes got no speakers on her tower but a 12-speaker clarion which sounds ok.. no match for my 02 supra sunsport v..4 tower speakers and 16 jl's and 3 amps.. haha.. the wake is ok without ballast but nothing major.. but with a half full ballast its a bit bigger than a xstar's without ballast
