2005 Mastercraft X-Star
Some said we were crazy for changing the X-Star in 2003. Some said we were visionary. Still others said we were both. But most of you said we were right. The boat that changed the industry returns for 2005, bringing the same massive and defined wake that sent Parks Bonifay to the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour Title, not to mention scores of riders who learned new moves simply due to the immense size and shape of the X-Star's wake. It wasn't just the riders who were blown away either - the X-Star was voted "Rider's Choice Wakeboard Boat of the Year" by WakeWorld.com. Built by humans - to perform tricks that are other worldly.

The boat does turn heads. Great looking. Whom ever gave this boat a 5 for handling must not have been driving. Its a pig. You want to weight it to get a great wake or it is too soft. Once you do be aware you have to do a wheelie for 1/4 mile(change prop right away, $500). Have fun filling that gas tank. Too much room in bow (who wants to sit there to get washed out by water over bow from a lame driver) and not enough in stern where the party is at. Tower is a tank and sways back and forth if there is speaker cans on it. Ballast always having issues since reversable. In conclusion...awesome looking, can be great wake, WAY over priced. Keep looking and save some $$$

Now have 30 hours on the boat and my wife and I love it. After looking at other options I cannot understand buying another boat in this catagory. Great fit and finish, great design, and killer wow factor!!

hands down this is the best boat on the market yes it is the most expensive and there a few reasons why Mastercraft has put a ton of detail into every inch of that boat. Anyone who says it looks cool is right. But more important the wake is huge its bigger without its tanks than most other boats filled with sacks. The new hull design is not just for looks it creates the biggest wake ever. Ive ridden malibu and Natique Im sorry the X star is double both. Why you might ask It weights pobably 2000 pounds more than those boats thats before you fill the tanks or ballast. Its a beast and throws a monter wake. And if wondering how I know this my work has both malibu and Natique and I own an Xstar. But its not for everyone some people dont like big wakes. I mean the biggest wake.

Expensive, but worth it! The engineering team at MasterCraft has thought of just about everything, and it shows. Rampy, firm wakes adjustable from big to monster-size, perfect ergonomics for the driver, space and comfort for the passengers --- everyone's happy with this boat. Two areas for improvement: 1) Could use more built-in ballast, especially side-to-side adjustable towards the front, primarily for wakesurfing. 2) The standard PerfectPass needs to have a way to either dim the backlight or turn it off completely when running at night - it blinds the driver and ruins your night vision. Either that or change the backlight color to red to match the rest of the gauges.

I don't want to sound like I'm a Master Craft Basher, but this boat really does suck. I think this boat looks really good...on the trailer, or even at the dock, but get behind the wheel and it never plains out and handles like a house boat. I was hoping for a better test drive and I felt bad for the salesman, but I was not impressed at all. Sorry if you were hoping to buy one. I really think I will buy a Malibu or a Centurion.

Sweet boat, looks amazing, huge inside with tons more storage than anything else. Room for like 15 people all day. wake is awesome, smooth transitions with just enough pop. the boats expensive, but you get your money back when you sell it. This boat is definietly not for part-time skiers-because the wake's to big without weight, or beginners because the boat size makes it difficult to turn around and pick people up alot. the cons are it doesn't handle for anything, gas (57 gallons at a time), nose dipping(I hate that) If you plan on using lots of weight strongly consider the 8.1 liter engine, the MCX is only decent. This boat is really heavy to tow a bunch without a big truck. I love this boat, its smooth, well-built, and it sounds good. I got an x-star over other boats because I needed a lot of room for people.

Good boat/bad boat. I have been riding behind a 2005 X-Star as my primary ride for a few months now, and have experienced both the ups and downs. PROS: *Wake: excellent lip, transition - cannot curl this wake over *Interior: spacious, ergonomic, very comfortable. excellent design *Storage: everywhere - you could basically hide 7 bodies in this boat. under-floor ballast leaves CAVERNOUS storage areas under the sundeck. *party factor: all day in this boat is easy. *Aesthetics: everything about this boat looks sick. Billet everywhere. Dash. Vinyl. Tower. Oh yeah. *Build: this boat is very well constructed structuraly. No engine vibration in the cabin. rock-solid ride. CONS: *bow-rise, bow-dip (if you like baths while riding in the bow, this boat is for you) *wide beam= more ballast needed to sink= bigger engine needed= more gas consumed. *main cabin is quite small for a 22.5' boat *quite pricey *engine problem(s): fuel-air mix problem when 'low' on gas (1/3 tank remaining) *handling when weighted is....bad, really bad. *standard prop can't handle much weight

i rode behind this boat and a malibu xti 23 all last summer. i enjoyed riding behind the malibu alot better and its way cheaper. mastercaft have way too high performancecost ratio compared to malibu wakeboard boats, but the interior dash is very nice!

Sick ass boat. never had any problems with it. I throw 3 extra 700 pounds into it and the mxc 350 still pulls the boat out. All orange is the only way to go.

Took me about a week to figure out the wakes lip, but once I did it was all up from there

Great in a straight line, but it is a pig to turn. Electrical problems prevent usage of stock ballast system. Bow rise is bad problem, then porpoises at speed. The default engine wont even get it to plane off unless boat is empty. Looks cool though.

A little pricey. A fully loaded one goes for 80k, ouch!

It is a great boat. But i don't know about the cost. It throws a awsome wake even if you don't put extra weight in it.

We absolutly love our 04 x-star. This was the first v-drive that we have ever had. Our previous boat was an x-9 and as the family was growing the boat needed to grow. I would reccomend the L-18 if you can spare that money, I truly thing that its worth the upgrade price. If you do upgrade the engine I would suggest the L-18 over the cadillac engine, the cost difference between the 2 is some what minimal and the money you will save on gas will be nice (better fuel economy L-18 vs Cadillac). Wake is A+ with stock ballast, if you want to add any weight I would suggest adding some to the bow, especially for surfing. One hell of a Boat!
