Biffy Clyro, The Wombats, Ellie Doulding, Example and more
confirmed for Wakestock 2011 - Tickets go on sale January 31st.
Wakestock 2011 tickets are going on sale a month early this year, as we reveal the big names travelling to Abersoch to headline the festival. 2011 Sees the line-up stronger than ever. We’re incredibly excited to announce that Scottish rockers and rising superstars Biffy Clyro will be coming to play a full headline set at the 2011 event. Having taken the charts by storm with their most recent album and almost stealing the show at Muse's huge stadium gigs last summer, Biffy have recently picked up two well-deserved nominations at the Brits. With about as much energy between them as it takes to run a freight train, Biffy Clyro at Wakestock is going to be something you don't want to miss. Their Wakestock show will be one of only three shows the band are playing in the UK this summer and they are known for creating a buzz amongst any festival crowd. You don’t want to miss them!
Joining them is Liverpool band of the moment, The Wombats. This trio are synonymous with what Wakestock is all about and know how to get the crowd worked up. Book your tickets today and you are sure to enjoy a huge, juicy chunk of their new material such as “Jump into the Frog," out this week, and belters like “Tokyo” and “Let’s Dance to Joy Division” and “Kill the Director.” This band is known for their ace live sets and they dominate stages big and small. Look out Wakestock, they’re coming to get you!
The bill also includes the epic Ellie Goulding who has achieved massive success since releasing her debut album Lights last year. The number one album is both the biggest and fastest selling debut album of 2010, Ellie’s whirlwind year began after she burst into the limelight by topping the BBC’s sound of 2010 poll and winning the prestigious Critics Choice Award at The Brits. BBC Radio 1 DJ and Wakestock regular Huw Stephens, has championed the singer, said: "I think what's exciting about Ellie is her hybrid of electro, pop, acoustic songwriting, all blended together. It sounds effortless, it sounds timeless and it's exciting.“ This gorgeous lady just goes from strength to strength and we can’t wait to hear her play at Wakestock next summer.
UK rapper Example will also be joining the party at Wakestock 2011. After a massive 2010 which saw him release a number of top 10 hits, including Won’t go Quietly and Kickstarts, Example has quickly become one of the biggest names in UK hip hop. With a new album and a number of singles due out before Wakestock, he’s one not to be missed.
Also joining the bill are two of the biggest names in Drum and Bass, DJ’s Danny Byrd and DJ Fresh will be making the trip to North Wales next summer. They will be joined by mash up master Jaguar Skills, who is fast becoming a name to watch since securing his weekly Saturday night Radio 1 slot. Radio 1’s Andy George & Jaymo, whose performances have won them an army of fans, have crafted a brand that stands for cutting-edge music and sleepless nights, so look out Wakestock.
Event Director Stuart Galbraith is looking forward to this year’s event. “We are really pleased with how the line up is coming together and are sure that it will be the strongest yet with Brit award nominees and previous Brit winners. The Wombats are a great addition to headline the Sunday night as they are a great North West band, all the more reason to get our hands on your tickets as soon as possible.”
The festival takes place on one of the most stunning festival sites in the whole of the UK which overlooks Cardigan Bay and the Snowdonia mountains, with loads more announcements over the coming weeks including more big name bands and DJ’s joining the line up, and a whole host of big name riders coming over to the UK to compete in on the wakeboarding competition. Keep checking the website for updates at Wakestock.co.uk.
