Wakestock Gwyl y Mor 2014Wakestock Gwyl Y Mor 2014 is back. Tom Odell, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls and John Newman to headline this year’s festival – tickets onsale from 5.30pm on Tuesday 25th February

We’re back! Wakestock Gwyl Y Mor 2014 will hit the shores of Cardigan Bay from the 11th – 13th July. We are thrilled to reveal our festival headliners TOM ODELL, FRANK TURNER & THE SLEEPING SOULS and JOHN NEWMAN who will be taking to the stages in July.

The name of the festival has evolved to become Wakestock Gwyl Y Mor (Festival of the Sea). It takes the existing annual festival featuring the best in music and wakeboarding from around the globe, and brings it back to its roots celebrating all that is great and good about its home, the Llyn Peninsula, Cardigan Bay.

The festival will come to showcase the best in music, comedy, poetry, arts and food and drink from across Wales. This year you can also look forward to daytimes filled with activities for the whole family including workshops, a fantastic fairground, amazing art installations, entertainment and activities for all ages and much more. The evenings will see some of the country’s top bands and DJs take to the stage. This year there will also be the addition of extra stage and more music to suit all tastes and ages. Look out for loads of announcements over the coming months!

The festival takes place over three different sites in a stunning location, the festival site itself, Pwllheli Marina and Abersoch Beach. We will be making the most of each of these sites so look out for events like traditional beach games and sports including beach volley ball and we will be introducing “have a go” sports both on the beach and out on the water including wakeboarding, paddle boarding and much more.

Event director Stuart Galbraith says
‘’Wakestock is 14 years old this year and we’re super proud of its history and the various line-ups we have brought to North Wales. We’ve been busy thinking of ways to evolve the festival this year and so alongside our usual star names from the world of music and fantastic sporting action we have also decided we want to widen our reach and encourage the whole of the Llyn Peninsula to take ownership of the event and get involved. Our first step is the addition of Gŵyl y Mor to the top line festival name as a celebration of our unique geography on one of Wales’s most beautiful coastlines. We’ve got fresh new artwork and we have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline so keep checking our website and social media for news and more. On a wider note Wakestock Gŵyl y Mor is not just the Llyn Peninsula’s festival but a festival for the whole of North Wales to enjoy. We can’t wait for the summer already’’

This year look out for a line up which places the music industry spotlight firmly on the emerging talent that Wales has to offer the world. We’ll be showcasing music, comedy and more from Wales and beyond. If you think you or someone you know needs to be seen on this stage then get in touch at info@wakestock.co.uk. This line up is a work in progress and an exciting development for 2014 as it will offer more local talent slots than ever before. Watch this space.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 18th February at 9am. You can get hold of your tickets through our website at wakestock.co.uk or by calling 0844 873 7358.

We are so excited to reveal TOM ODELL will be headlining the Friday night at the festival this year. Last year Tom’s critically acclaimed debut number 1 album, Long Way Down went gold. He also supported his hero Elton John at The Roundhouse in London as part of the iTunes Festival 2013, and won the BRITs Critics' Choice Award in early 2013. Currently embarking on a full UK tour, this guy’s star is set to rise further, with two Brit award nominations for the Best British Breakthrough Act and Best British Male Solo Artist. Tom performed his first new song since the release of “Long Way Down”, entitled "Alex" as part of his tour this month and listen out for more air play over the coming months.

The story of FRANK TURNER, the former punk rock frontman, the man who tours harder than anybody else, is one of the most heart-swelling there is. Starting off in London's tiniest boltholes and grottiest pubs, he's risen slowly but surely, album by album, gig by gig. Pubs have given way to top rooms of venues and now arenas. Touring in support of new record Tape Deck Heart, 2014 has seen Frank take on arenas all over the UK, including the biggest of all, the O2. He has brought the house down in all of them and we can’t wait for him to take to the stage.

JOHN NEWMAN’s soulful voice has made him one of the hottest stars in Britain, the voice of two No 1 singles, the 2013 hit “Love me Again” and “Feel the Love” with Rudimental, and his first album “Tribute” entered the charts at number one in October. This year saw him nominated for two BRIT awards for Best Single and Best British Male. His sound blends the organic feel of Sixties soul with the thick pulse of modern pop and the piano-driven energy of house music. He has across the board appeal and is sure to be a hit on stage this year.
