Top Riders from 30 Countries to Compete in the World Cable Championships in the Tropical Philippines

Share

2012 Cable Wakeboard WorldsCable Wakeboard is seen as a hot contender for inclusion in the 2020 Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is in the process of examining a total of eight contending sports. One will be chosen and a final announcement will be made in September 2013 when the IOC Executive Board will decide by simple majority vote on the new sport to be included in the 2020 Games. Representatives of the IOC are visiting all contenders and will be in attendance at the forthcoming Cable Wakeboard World Championships in the Philippines.

The new competition site selected is the Deca Clark Wakeboard Park, located just 80km north of Manila at Angeles City. This tropical venue is rated as one of the best places to live in the Philippines. It is famous for its golf courses, shopping malls and casinos. The Clark Special Economic Zone area is also a major hub for business, aviation and tourism in the region. It's 500 Bars and Nightclubs attract visitors from all over the world throughout the year.

Deca Wake Park ClarkThe Deca Clark Wakeboard Park is also the focus point of a major development which will eventually see several hundred villas and houses constructed around the Cable Wakeboard site. As the electric powered cable system of the wakeboard park is environmentally friendly and offers a high return on investment, the residents will have a unique facility for recreation on their doorstep - and at low cost to residents, friends and visitors.

Last month, the world's top riders competed at the successful 34th World Cup Stop at the beautiful downtown Odaiba beach site in Tokyo. Now, as the Philippines dry season approaches, the riders are finally preparing for the highlight of the Cable Wakeboard calendar. Scheduled to take place on November 6/11, the 2012 Cable Wakeboard World Championships of the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) have already attracted entries from 30 Countries - double the number of participating Countries in the last World Championships held in Neubrandenburg, Germany. This reflects the enormous growth of cable Wakeboard world-wide.

With just two weeks to go, cable wakeboard riders from the following Countries have registered to compete for the 2012 World Champion titles : Australia, Austria, Canada, Croatia, Chinese Taipei, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Republic of Korea, Republic of South Africa, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine and USA.

While the last World Championships in Germany were dominated by riders from Great Britain, Germany and Australia, these 2012 Championships are more than likely to produce some new strong contenders. The man-made Deca Wake Park lake course comprises five Rixen towers supporting the 718m long cable system with eight Rixen Obstacles on the water including kickers, tables, rooftops and funboxes. These are designed to push the riders to their absolute limit and at the same time create a very exciting World Championships. A free IWWF Webcast will be available on Saturday and Sunday and details will be published in the next news release in the coming days.
