ABILENE, TEXAS – Tigé Boats gains two of wakesurfing's best with the addition of Chase Hazen and Ashley Kidd to Tigé’s world-class team of elites.
Drawn by the best Wakesurf wave in the industry, each rider brings a different dynamic to TeamTigé, representing a powerful group of professional wakesurfers most commonly seen on the top of the podium.
Chase Hazen started ocean surfing at the age of 11 in his hometown of Discovery Bay, California. When he was 13, Hazen began competing in worldwide wakesurfing events, winning a Junior World Title at the World Wakesurf Championships in Clear Lake, California. Most recently, Hazen dominated at the 2011 World Wakesurf Championships bringing home the World Title in the Pro-Surf Men’s category. Hazen also placed first on the podium at the 2011 North West Wakesurf Open and captured the title “King of Lake” in France. When asked about joining TeamTigé Hazen replied, "I'm stoked to be joining the Tigé family and to be on board with a strong boat brand that is pushing the sport of wakesurfing."
Transitioning his experience and success from student to teacher, Hazen was able to help our newest female rider become confident and comfortable in competition mode. If you ever see Ashley Kidd on the water you would never guess that she is only 16. Her experience may be limited so far, but when you see Kidd ride, her skill level erases any question of where she stands in sport.
Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Kidd is currently ranked the No. 2 pro surfer in the world and proving her dominance with every set. This year Kidd took first place at the 10,000 Lakes Wakesurf Open in Minnesota. Adding to her experience at the podium, Kidd competed in her first Worlds Wakesurf Championship where she let her surf-style riding do the talking, placing second in the Pro-Surf Women’s category.
Kidd says she's excited about being a part of TeamTigé and all the opportunities that come with it. "I can't wait to get my new boat," Kidd told us at our latest video shoot. "Ever since I first saw the RZ2 and rode behind it, I knew that's the boat for me."
