Spring Season Kicks Off Wednesday, April 3 At Wake Nation Houston With New Attractions, Tons of Fun

Share

Wake NationHouston, TX – Grab your bathing suit…Wake Nation Houston, the city’s first and only full-size cable wakeboarding park, officially opens its spring season Wednesday, April 3rd!

Since its inaugural season in 2011, Wake Nation Houston has been extremely popular with both beginners and experienced watersports' enthusiasts who can wakeboard, water ski, kneeboard and wakeskate on a 12-acre lake without a boat! Five 35-foot high steel towers carrying a unique overhead cable system allow six riders on the water at the same time, being pulled around the lake at speeds of 18-20 miles per hour. The riders are pulled in a clockwise direction, a rare feature only a few cable parks in the world can boast!

Visitors to Wake Nation this season will find many new, exciting features to enjoy.

For experienced riders, the lake is outfitted with nine custom-built jumps, grind rails and sliders, including two brand new, state-of-the-art rails for riders to experience. In addition, the entire water course has been reconfigured, giving this year’s patrons a totally new experience and challenge.

Another new feature in 2013 is the addition of a second two-tower cable structure, called an "easy start" ride system, located in a separate area on the main lake.

This new area, along with the original two-tower "easy start" system that opened with the park, is designed to give kids and wakeboarding beginners a separate area to learn to ride a wakeboard at a slower speed than on the main lake. All riders must be at least seven years of age and are required to wear a Coast Guard Approved (CGA) life vest and a helmet, all of which can be rented at Wake Nation.

The two easy-start systems are perfect for the cable park’s popular summer camp programs for kids. The summer camps feature numerous fun activities for attendees, plus the best wakeboard instruction found anywhere. Wake Nation has added on to its existing building a separate area to accommodate the summer campers as well as birthdays and private parties. The new room has arcade games, lockers, a lounge, projection TV for instructional videos and other fun features. Also new in 2013 for the campers to enjoy is an inflatable trampoline and slide. It’s sure to be one more thing that keeps a smile on kids’ faces all summer long!

The Wake Nation Houston complex has a full pro shop, equipment rental shop, concessions area, huge outdoor observation deck offering a panoramic view of the entire lake area and numerous other services and amenities.

The spring season officially kicks off Wednesday, April 3. The park will be open Wednesdays-Friday, noon to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). The full-time daily summer season begins Wednesday, May 1.

To help celebrate the 2013 season, Wake Nation Houston is hosting a special event on Saturday, April 27 when it presents the Liquid Force Free For All! Free for All is a full day of fun with free riding and rental, live music, free food, free giveaways, professional wakeboarding demonstrations and non-stop activities.

During the Liquid Force Free For All day, the public can try out all the new 2013 Liquid Force Wakeboard products on-site, plus on hand will be multiple Liquid Force global team-riders showing off their skills, giving pointers, hanging out and signing autographs. It’s a fun, relaxed, and non-intimidating environment for the first timer and for seasoned wakeboarding veterans alike. (More information on this event will be sent soon).

Wake Nation Houston is a "pay-as-you-play" facility. Parking and admission to the cable wakeboarding complex are FREE, including access to the outdoor observation deck. Riders pay only for their "water time" at $30 for two hours, $35 for four hours and $40 for an all-day pass. Wake Nation also offers lessons, camps, special group rates and several season pass options. Currently, there are only 12 full-scale cable wakeboarding parks in the U.S. and Wake Nation is happy to be the only one in Houston, Texas.

Wake Nation Houston is one of two cable wakeboard complexes operating under the Wake Nation brand. Wake Nation’s first cable wakeboard complex, Wake Nation Cincinnati, opened in May, 2009 to rave reviews from the local community as well as professional wakeboarders worldwide.
