Billabong is proud to announce that wakeboarder Raphael Derome has renewed his relationship with the brand for another three years. The young rider from Quebec, Canada took the world of wakeboarding by storm this past year winning international contests like the FISE in Montpellier, France and Wake the Line in Cologne, Germany. Raphael also documented some of the most technical riding skills (rails and wake) on video and created quite a reaction within the wakeboard industry. All the attention then turned to him as he was named the 'Rail Rider of the Year' at the 2010 Transworld Wakeboarding Wake Awards that took place in Orlando this past September.
Upon signing his new deal, Raphael comments, "I'm stoked to continue my relationship with Billabong. They are an industry leader in the sport and they have been my major sponsor since I was 14 years old, so to re-sign with them only made sense."
"Raphael is a not only a great wakeboarder at the beginning of his career, but a great ambassador to the brand," says Chris Heffner, Global Team Manager at Billabong. "It’s with great pride and excitement that we are able to re-sign an athlete of Raphael’s stature, and we look forward to helping him push the sport of wakeboarding for years to come."
