Sevilla, Spain - After a busy and fun week at Doublewake Camps with all the riders of the MTOTW Session, it got serious on November 20th for the MTOTW Photo Session. On Saturday it was the wakeboarders and photographers' turn to shoot the best picture of the day. This was awarded the same night at the official MTOTW party in Sevilla downtown. On Sunday it was the wakeskaters day with the best trick competition at the Doublewake Cable Park.
The Saturday photo contest started with cold temperatures and rain, but everybody was motivated to ride and shoot. At 10:00 the boats went out with the first riders and photographers, but after a short while it started to rain hard, so everybody went back in to wait for the rain to stop. For the next five hours the riders where playing poker and for lunchtime there was served a delicious Andalucían paella.
In the late afternoon the riders and photographers started to lose the hope of good photos, but all of a sudden the sun came out and the river was glassy like in every wakeboarder's dream. Not to be mentioned the riders and photographers were on the boat in no time.
The results were superior. All the eight teams got awesome shots. After coming back from the boat all the riders sat down with their photographers to choose their best shot to submit and, of course, work on it in Photoshop.
At 9:00 PM all the riders came together to vote for the best photo. It was really hard to vote because every photo was very good in his way. At the end it was the Spanish Champion from Madrid, Jimmy Martinez, who got voted first place with his photo taken by Andres Araya. Swiss rider and Sevilla local Cyril Cornaro got voted for second place with his photo taken by Michel Martin.
Cyril Cornaro, six-time European champion, said, "Hands down I feel that this competition, because of its format, was one of the best ones I participated in.
The day ended with the photo awards and prize giving in Sala Zeppelin Sevilla.
On Sunday the sun was already out in the morning and all the people gathered to the Cable Park in Parque Alamillo to watch the wakeskaters. With Monster Energy Drink putting up a badass soundsystem at the cable park, it was exciting to watch the wakeskaters while listening to the tunes of the DJ.
All the wakeskaters got several runs on the cable to score their best tricks on kickers, rails and flatwater. At the end of the day it was Tommy Espalda from Benidorm that took out best trick in kicker with a massive heelside backside 360 and best trick on rails with with a switch 270 frontside board shove out.
The best flatwater trick went to Luis Becqueriaux from Barcelona with a big and very clean kickflip.
After the prize giving all the riders, photographers and people involved in the MTOTW Session had one thing in common, "We can’t wait for MTOTW Session 2011!"
