Everything is bigger in Texas, including the Collegiate Wake Series National Championships! The top 16 teams in the country converge on Decker Lake in Austin on April 15th, each manned with their top eight riders to compete head to head for four full days.
The teams earned their spot after an intense fall tour that showcased over 30 schools from seven different states. The teams who rode the Collegiate Wake Series were ready for something new and stepped up, making every event more fun and competitive. It has helped bring college wakeboarding to an all-new level.
Now, the culmination is upon us and Empire Wake is ready to crown the first CWS National Champion. All the teams have worked hard to get here building their clubs and raising money. Each one wants the title and their claim to number one.
That team will ride away with sponsors, prizes and bragging rights for the next year. "With all the great teams coming, it really is anyone’s win," says Rob Mendieta, the founder and coordinator of the Collegiate Wake Series.
Besides the event itself, there will be lots to do that weekend. Urban Rider Winches will be hosting a rail jam open to any capable rider on Thursday and Saturday. Texas Ski Ranch will be hosting a party Friday night for all the teams at the event. Look for live music, Red Bull DJ’s, bikini contest and giveaways.
