On the weekend from August 18th to 21st the Rhine River near Freistett will start to seethe once again ‘cause it´s time for Chill and Ride!
The Chill and Ride 2011 will be taking place at a location that has seen it all before. After six really successful years with the event growing constantly, there was no doubt that this story of success had to be continued. So you should already mark the weekend from August 18th to 21st in your calendar and take your holiday on these dates, making sure you won't miss the biggest wakeboard party in the European boat scene.
Numerous sponsors, helpers and supporters will do their best, so that owners of wakeboarding boats from all over Germany and many other countries can pack their bags and ship down the Rhine River near the German-French border for a weekend of fun and action on and off the water. For the promoters it is important that there's a healthy balance between show and contest, plus the possibility to become active yourself and take your wakeboard onto the water, even if you're not a top-notch wakeboarding pro.
Once again the very best of the European wakeboard-scene have announced their arrival, but for the boys and girls it ain't all about getting a share of the 4.000 Euros of price money, which definitely would be the icing on the cake. In the first place they want to have a good time with their friends on the water and during the party nights.
So far confirmed are: Bernhard Hinterberger, Conni Schrader and Dominik Gührs from Germany, who all surely belong to the elite behind the boat. Also the reigning champion in the pro category, Dan Nott from the Netherlands, wants to defend his title. With Yann Calvez and Lucas Langlois from France, as well as David Vervenne from Belgium there are already some contenders willing to do anything to stop Nott from achieving that goal. And the list is very likely to be completed with some more high-class riders. For the women's division there will be the European champion Elke Venken from Belgium along with the world champion in wakesurfing Rebecca Ort and the vice-world champ Korina Smyrek from Switzerland who will bring some female power and high-class action riding onto the water of the Rhine.
From the very beginning the Chill and Ride Events have also been about having a good time with your buddies. At first being more of a small and familial round of three or four dozens of people it has evolved to a huge event weekend. The real spectacle will kick off on Thursday August 18th with Cucuma Club Resident DJ David Hoffman playing in the Karcher family shipyard in Freistett, trying to heat up and prepare the crowd for the upcoming weekend. On Friday the motto of the evening will be „Who goes BASS“ with DJ 5ter Ton from the famous Stuttgart-based rap group „Massive Töne“, which definitely can be considered a true highlight. He will be supported by DJ Thies and DJ Sandy.
On Saturday after the winning ceremony of the wakeboard team challenge there's gonna be the SWR DasDing Party with DJ Luk and Sandy, who are two of the most popular DJ's of Stuttgart's scene. The years before the Saturday always has attracted a lot of people who haven't had a lot of contact with the wake-scene before and these people just packed the dance floor. So even if you're not involved in the wakeboarding scene or don't know a lot about the sport, you and your friends are very welcome to join the festivities when the Chill and Ride in Freistett unifies the scene!
On Sunday the pro wakeboard and wakesurf challenges will take place in search of a new champion. That will be the time when the shores of the Rhine River will be filled with hundreds of people making themselves comfortable on the green with strengthening bratwurst or refreshing ice cream, testing their luck in raffles by the main sponsor Nissan and the BOOTEMagazine. Or maybe you just want to enjoy the show on the water, where the boys and girls will vault themselves in the air over the waves of their boats to show a variety of high-flying and fast-spinning tricks, which will be explained to the audience by expert announcers.
