Merced, CA - Centurion is proud to announce that professional wake surfer Jimmi Sparling has joined the Centurion Pro Wake Surf Team. Sparling, who resides in Boise, Idaho and who is an accomplished snowboarder, started wake surfing as a summertime substitute for snowboarding and in 2009 he entered a professional contest as an amateur and took first place. At that point, Jimmi’s passion for wake surfing was ignited.
Jimmi said, “I grew up snowboarding in the Idaho Mountains and always planned to go pro. I got sponsored by local companies and did some competitions but as soon as I started wakesurfing, I found my new passion. Whether you're behind a boat or in the ocean, there is something about surfing that just gets me stoked. As soon as I started riding behind a Centurion, my progression took off. The wave is by far the best advantage and no other boat company does it better.”
Centurion’s Wake Surf Team manager, Todd Gaughan, said, “We’re so excited to have another athlete of Jimmi’s caliber join the team of the best wake surfers in the world and you just can’t find a more solid guy than Jimmi. We’re looking for big things to come from him.”
When asked who he would like to thank for helping his accomplishments, Jimmi said, “I have the best wife in the world. She kills it at wakesurfing and is my best friend. I also want to thank Centurion for standing behind wake surfing and sponsoring the World Wake Surfing Championship and I also need to give big props to Jeff Wahlers at Soulcraft boards.
When Jimmi is not wakesurfing he is snowboarding, ocean surfing or hanging out with his beautiful wife, Kaley and their two kids.
Centurion’s team consists of the most decorated wake surfers in the World with a combined 11 World Wake Surfing Championship titles. The team includes Bri Chmel, Keenan Flegel, Noah Flegel, Caroline Villeneuve, Sean Cummings, Jimmi Sparling and Drew Danielo just to name a few.
