8th Annual TSR Freezeride

Share

TSR Freezeride 2011Balmy weather returned for the 8th annual Freezeride at TSR this past weekend. The warm weather, after an unusual week of ice, snow and single digit windchills, brought beach lovers and riders out in droves. Spectators packed the building and soaked up sun on the beach to enjoy the year’s first event at TSR.

Freezeride kicks off the wakeboarding season with a cable wakeboard and wakeskate tournament with five different divisions and a boat competition. When the competition was not in action, guests enjoyed test driving 2011 MasterCraft boats, watching the Spring Break Style Show with a preview of the hottest looks in swimwear and apparel for spring break and munching on free hot dogs and goodies. As a part of the Freezeride Open House, cable passes, skate park passes and rockwall were all free to the public, giving everyone the option to experience the TSR lifestyle.

TSR Freezeride 2011This year’s line-up brought out some of the best riders in the region, along with a long list of younger riders willing to brave the icy waters just to be able to say that they could do it! Riders traveled from Oklahoma, Kansas and Florida to participate in this year’s event. Last minute entry Michael Long (OK) won the beginner division, while Mason Markwart (TX) won his first ever championship in the intermediate division. Marshall Lewis (TX) showed more offseason improvement than any other rider to take home the advanced wakeboard division. Tom Fooshee and Bret Little assumed their normal spots on top of the pro wakeboard and wakeskate podiums. The cable event showcased the rider’s talents as each division looked as good or better than they did at the end of last season.

TSR Freezeride 2011The boat had to be de-winterized from the night before, a tournament first. The ballast would not fill initially due to ice in the lines. The boat was limited to pro divisions where David Roehm took home top honors in wakeskate. Gabe Lucas broke away from work on his lunch break to compete. He literally showed up five minutes before his turn, rode flawlessly for three passes, stomped a huge slim chance (full twisting front flip) off the double up and slid on his wakeboard up the shore to stay completely dry. It was one of the most impressive rides in the eight-year history of the Freezeride.

The largest crowd ever was treated to some of the best riding ever seen this early in the season. If you missed out on Freezeride, mark your calendars for Cablestock May 5th-8th. TSR’s largest beach party and tournament of the year! TSR would also like to thank MasterCraft and Liquid Force for supporting TSR and their events.
