Guy Firer - Boat

Share

Guy FirerGuy Firer is a world champion cable rider, but he has dabbled in behind-the-boat riding since he was first introduced to wakeboarding. Recently, Guy has been putting in more time on the wakes and has built up a pretty impressive bag of tricks. The proof is in the video!

WW: Age?
GF: I turned 23 On August 3rd.

WW: How did you first get into boat riding? You've always been known as a cable rat?
GF: Actually, when I was 10 years old my dad bought a boat and I started wakeboarding behind the boat, but since the cable was closer to my house, I ended up spending tons of hours on the cable and didn't really push on the boat. But in 2017 I had a big boat contest, the World Games, and with the help of the Israeli Waterski Federation, they flew me to Orlando to train at The Boarding School for five months with Mike Ferraro and Travis. Since then I saw the opportunity to get into the boat industry, so I consider myself a pro boat rider for the past three years.

WW: Been seeing you ride/train with Tony Iacconi lately. How’s that been? Has it been helpful in your riding?
GF: For the past year I been spending a lot of time with Tony Iacconi on the water and out and with the help of him I learnt new tricks that really helped with my riding level.

Guy FirerWW: Are you riding the Pro Tour this year?
GF: So this year I'm not riding the Pro Tour, but I'm flying to Texas for Nationals and over there I will compete on boat and cable and I'm already looking forward for next year to compete at all the pro contest stops.

WW: What’s your nutritional and workout routine like?
GF: I have been working a lot at the gym to get my body in shape so that I will be able to progress in my riding and to be strong on the water.

WW: What setup do you ride on the boat?
GF: My boat setup is a Ronix RXT board (size 140) and RXT boots (size 9).

WW: What rope length?
GF: My rope length is 72.5 feet and riding at a speed of 22.5 mph and I'm riding on the Nautique Boats G23.

WW: Special thanks to anyone?
GF: Thanks to my family and friends and thanks to the Israeli Water Ski Federation. Without them, I wouldn't be able to be here. Thanks for Ronix for providing me the best gear out there and to everyone that supports me. And a big thanks going to you, Norbi, for making this video.
