WakeWorld is helping to bring you the first wakesurfing event of the year, Synthetic Swell. Synthetic Swell was dreamed up by Marco Thompson of Surf-Thirty and will bring together the So Cal wakesurfing community to kick off the season with a bang. Day one (Saturday, 2/22) is at Lake Elsinore and day two (Sunday, 2/23) is on Mission Bay in San Diego.
Synthetic Swell is a demo day/festival/shred session where you and your crew can bring your boat and/or try out the wakesurfing experience behind other boats. If you don’t have a boat, no problem! There will be plenty of sessions available for everyone. You don’t even need a board or wetsuit if you don’t have one because those will be provided as well. The idea is to share boats and boards so that everybody can try out whatever setup they’re interested in.
Synthetic Swell is not a money-making venture. The organizers are putting this together at their own expense and volunteers are bringing their boats and boards in at their own expense. There is no charge for anything, although a $25 donation for gas money to your boat driver is encouraged. This is where we come in. WakeWorld will be making sure at least 10 of Synthetic Swell's participants will ride for free (and guilt-free)! WakeWorld is sponsoring 10 surf sessions by covering the $25 gas money donation for 10 lucky surfers.
To get entered, start by getting registered for Synthetic Swell. There is no cost to do so. Then, either share this article on your Facebook page by clicking the Facebook button at the top or bottom of the article or send an email to SyntheticSwell@WakeWorld.com with your name. That's it. We’ll announce the winners the day before the event (Friday, 2/21) right here on WakeWorld and SynSwell.com. If you're one of the lucky winners, you will get a coupon that you can hand to a boat driver in lieu of gas money for a free surf session.
Whether or not you win a free session, we hope to see you out at Synthetic Swell either at Lake Elsinore, Mission Bay or both!!
