Alex Aulbach, originally from Germany, popped up on the pro park rider scene a few years ago. On social media, he’s famous for his love for Starbucks and rosé. I try to catch up with him whenever he’s in Orlando. This year he spent quite some time on the west coast chilling and riding with the Delta boys. Then I had the pleasure of riding and filming with him for a little bit before he had to go back to Germany for their Wake Awards. At least I was able to get enough footage for this edit before he left.
AA: Munich, Germany
WW: Where have you been this off-season?
AA: Just been to California for some off-season riding with Trev and then just home hanging with the fam and snowboarding.
WW: Do you like the west coast or east coast more?
AA: West coast is where it’s at! I just like the flow/vibe there more. But Nor Cal though!
WW: Tell us about what this year holds for you with your pro models?
AA: I want to film a bunch because the artwork on my boards tell a lot about me, but I think having a few good videos would help showing my personality even more.
WW: Who did you stay with while in Orlando and how did that help your riding/boat riding?
AA: I stayed with Taylor on Holden. We rode lots of cable and Derek took me on his boat quite a few times too. It was easy. He just drove over and picked me up from her dock. That’s living man.
WW: What's next on your list for now?
AA: I went to a boat show in Germany right after Orlando. They had German Wake Awards and a small fun indoor pool contest. After that I’m probably going to snowboard lots since we have so much snow in Europe now.
WW: Plans for the summer?
AA: Just ride as much as I can, film and do cool stuff. That’s about it.
WW: New tricks you want to land this year?
AA: I don’t know. Maybe a new double flip or so or some more grab variations with tricks I already can do, but have to pimp, I guess.
WW: New goals for the year?
AA: Go spend more time at different parks around Germany
WW: Special thanks to anyone? Sponsors?
AA: Nah, I’m good. Joke! Yeah, well, obviously Norbi for picking me up and taking me to Chik-fil-A and, yeah, my sponsors: Hyperlite and Follow. And thanks OWC for the good support and all my friends and homies in Orlando who helped me out. Love ya.
