Mandeville, Louisiana - 14-year-old Ben Albright is going wakeboarding at his favorite spot, the Tchefuncta River. Ben is practicing for his coming competition at the WWA World Wakeboarding Championships in Orlando, Florida. Ben qualified for the World Championships by his performance at the National Championships earlier this season.
"I started wakeboarding three years ago and picked up the sport quickly," said Ben. Ben is currently sponsored by CWB and rides the 135 Prodigy Platinum. With the help of his father, Ben tries to ride every day to practice new tricks and refine old ones. Like any action sport, when you try new things, you crash a lot! Ben suffered two concussions in 3 months. Ben's mother became concerned and decided to switch sports if he suffered any more concussions.
When Troy Flick of Shred Ready Helmets heard that Ben might have to stop wakeboarding he decided to step in. "As one of the few nationally competitive wakeboarders in his area, we wanted to make sure that Ben kept riding," said Flick. Shred Ready has agreed to supply Ben with a helmet to keep him on the water.
"Ben is a great example that people can benefit from wearing helmets every time they ride, not just when they are hitting ramps and sliders. Our helmets are lightweight, adjustable, snug fitting and have been used on a daily basis by other water sports athletes for years.
Look for Ben at the WWA World Wakeboarding Championships in Orlando, Florida October 1-3. Also check out www.shredready.com to see the best wakeboarding helmets on the market today.
