Incomplete To Premiere on West Coast
Wakesports Unlimited in Orange, California put together a party to show off the first release from Pointless Productions, Incomplete. Tyler Irwin, Wakesports owner, did the event up right. The store was cleared of most of its merchandise and it was replaced by a buffet table and video screen. Not stopping there, another video screen was set up outside the store with a section in the parking lot set out for simultaneous outdoor viewing of the video. He even had bright orange shirts made up for the occasion.
Probably the wisest planning decision was putting Wakesports rider, Cheryl Newton, and family in charge of providing food. I certainly didn't expect to see anything like the spread they came up with. I know Tyler pretty well, so a box of Ritz crackers and some squeeze cheese would have blown me away! As you can see from the pictures, they had all kinds of goodies to satisfy just about any appetite and they topped it all off with a beautiful wakeboard cake that included molded in fins!

There was a huge crowd that showed up to check out the video and festivities. Pointless Posse members Erik Ruck and Shane Bonifay made the trip from Florida. Also in attendance were Tony Finn, Jimmy Redmon and Don Wallace of Liquid Force fame, Greg Dick, the So Cal Hyperlite rep, Garrett Adams and Mike Null from Nevin, a who's who list of west coast riders including Cody Hall, Melissa Marquardt, Kyle Murphy, Cheryl Newton, Ryan Augustine and probably many more that I'm leaving out. There were also reps from companies like Ridin High, Origin, Hangtime and many more. Everyone who showed up had a chance to win something in the free raffle that I thought would never end. If you didn't leave with some loot, you just weren't trying!
So how was the video? Incredible. This is the best video I've seen in some time. It had the perfect mix of riding and off-water antics that keeps the video entertaining throughout. I like the way they worked wipeouts in throughout without waiting for the "wipeout section" at the end. The whole thing gives you the feeling that this is just a bunch of guys out wakeboarding because it's fun. You can tell that they thrive on pushing each other to the next level, which is probably why all these guys are so good on a wakeboard (or wakeskate in Brian Grubb's case).
Each rider in the Pointless crew (Shane Bonifay, Parks Bonifay, Erik Ruck, Danny Harf, Brian Grubb, Francios Roy, Nick Weinacker, Shawn Watson and Chad Sharpe) had their own section. My favorite was Chad Sharpe because it looks like he endured the most pain to put it together. I think you're going to be seeing a lot of this guy in 2002. A close second goes to Francois Roy, whom I had not really seen ride much before. I was thoroughly impressed with both his riding and his modern dance skills. Look for a full review here on WakeWorld after I've seen it a few more times.
