MidWest Wake Fest is coming up quickly. Here is how the event details currently stand. If you haven't blocked your schedule out to be in Ottawa, Illinois over the weekend of July 19st to 21st, it is not too late. Since 1998, this event has been building and for 2002 the event looks to be the biggest yet. Get your crew organized now!

Accommodations
Tent and RV camping will be available on-site at Four Star Marina. There is a $25 campsite fee which includes unlimited on-site boat launch use and puts you right in the middle of DownTown Wake Fest for the entire weekend (camping, parking, etc). A lot of you have been asking about reservations for campsites on the river. Due to the overwhelming demand, we have elected to make these sites first come, first serve. If you have already sent payment we will do our best to honor our promise; however, we still advise trying to arrive early.

Blocks of hotel rooms are set aside at three Ottawa hotels. If you don't like camping, check the Wake Fest website for contact information for these hotels. All three of them are located less than 10 minutes from Four Star Marina.

Entertainment
The musical score for MidWest Wake Fest is huge. As of today, it looks like we will be having four live bands over the weekend: Question of Hunor, The Metz Brothers, and others just to keep you guessing a little bit. Live music is schedules for your entertainment on Friday evening as well as all day and night Saturday. When the live bands are resting, we will have D.J. entertainment on board kicking more tunes and acting as our MC for the variety of events scheduled.

Friday night MWWF attendees will get the 2002 event started with entertainment and beverages in Four Star Marina's bar/restaurant. In addition to the entertainment, several items will be given away so plan on arriving early. As the sun begins to set, MWWF 2002 attendees will be greeted by a plane full of jumpers falling from the sky thanks to our sponsor Sky Dive Chicago.

Saturday we'll party all afternoon on the patio and the peninsula. Four Star Marina has some goodies planned for this afternoon for our delight. He assures me we'll enjoy, but he will not divulge his plans. I'll just have to trust him as he is a pretty wild guy so I think all attendees will enjoy whatever he has up his sleeves.

Saturday night will be the night that you do not want to miss as there will be more evening entertainment on the bar and the patio. If you missed the sky divers on Friday, they will be back again so keep your eyes peeled for the Sky Dive Chicago plane. We will be giving away more gear at Saturday's party. Actually, more gear is really an understatement when you see what the sponsors have provided for this event.

On-Water-Features
All day Friday, MidWest Wake Fest will offer a rider's clinic with Brett Eisenhauer, sponsored by EVS Sports and Ski Centurion. Spots will fill up fast for a chance to ride with Ike, so get in touch with us soon to reseve your spots. Spots can be reserved by emailing us at mwwf2002@hotmail.com. In addition, we will have sponsors' products availabe all day for MWWF attendees to demo. Products available for demo tests will include: Core Wakeboards, Double Up, O'Brien, Nautique Boats, Tige, Calabria, Supra, Moomba, StraightLine Ropes and Handles, Gath Helmets, Predator Helments, Loogy Lube, HoochieGoo. The Midwest Mission to Ride will also be bringing out a slider for MWWF attendess to try.

Saturday afternoon we will have several social contest events. Social contests will include a double up contest sponsored by MidWest Correct Craft and EVS Sports and a slider contest thanks to the MidWest Mission to Ride and their portable Rave slider. These social contests will be limited to a handful of entrants so that we can get back to the social part of the festival. In addition to the two events listed, several others are in the works so that all riders can participate.

Sunday morning Stateamind and LadyBoarder.com are arranging a couple of "Ladies-Only" boats. Ladies, if you've been looking for an opportunity to pick up something new in a testosterone-free environment, contact Lauren at mwwf2002@hotmail.comto reserve your spot.

Sunday will also see the B3 Marine "Over-40" Super Air Nautique take to the water so those of us with a little less left in our knees can enjoy the Illinois River without the kids. Contact Bill at B3 at info@b3marine.com to reserve your spot.
