Mike Copithorne Double-up Contest
The Mike Copithorne Double-Up Contest was a success. We had a great turnout and were able to raise close to $2000 for Mike. I could not have organized the event without the help of Al Marchiniak, Jason Buffalo, Tom Dasilva and many others. Al, Jason and Tom organized many of the major aspects of the event, from the live band, picking up equipment, organizing the BBQ, contacting sponsors and riders, to getting the towboat and equipment there on time. You all did an excellent job.
Here are the results of the competition:
- Best Trick - Aaron Aubrey
- Biggest Air - Brady Sammons
- Best Crash - Blake Cannon
I would also like to thank our sponsors and everyone who donated thousands of dollars worth of money and prizes to benefit Mike, thanks. The list is in no particular order: Boarders Paradise, Marcus Fhahen and Togo's, Steve Jones, Surf and Skate, Hyperlite, Reef, Liquid Force, Newt Juice, Water Ski World, Ski World U.S.A., Larson Marine, Barry Paulson's Boat Center, Hammers Marine, Wave Warriors, Boss Towers, Marine Max, WakeWorld.com, Legend Eyewear, Lightning Wakeboard Accessories, Titan Towers, Accurate Ski Lines, Riot Wear, Air Cowboy, Malibu Boats, Ridin High Clothing, and Straight Line Ropes. If I forgot anyone, I apologize and please let me know.
There was a wonderful article published in today's Sacramento Bee that everyone should take a look at. Check it out at The Sacramento Bee's website.
I have had some requests for the address to send donations to, so here it is:
The Mike Copithorne Fund C/O Orangevale SDA Church 5810 Pecan Ave. Orangevale, CA. 95662
We are privileged to be able to help out those that are less fortunate. The most important things in life are our relationships with friends and family. It is a wonderful feeling to get together and do what we can to help each other out. Thanks again, and have a wonderful year. We hope you all had a great time and we look forward to doing it again.
