I thought I read that guys would lower the trailer or let air out of even a Malibu VTX late 2000 model to get into a 7 foot door.

MC X2 - I find to be a great size (I own a 2004). I really don't want 16 people on my boat ever.
also, X2 = arguably unbeatable wake
With that in mind, you could throw older wakesetters and SAN...
