In front of a partying Gold Coast crowd of over 5,000 people, the Tour leaders battled it out in ideal conditions. Blue skies and flat water provided a stunning backdrop to a crew of the world's best wakeboarders chasing tour points and the Planet X medals.
Crowd favourite Daniel Watkins, 2005 Tour leader and 2004 Champion, fell short in the final to finish 4th. Daniel still holds the Tour lead, 45 points ahead of Jeff Weatherall with one round to go.
Scotty Broome from Sydney finally stepped up to record his first podium on the Pro Tour with a third place finish. His run was a feature of the day with many highly technical tricks. Seasoned campaigner Brett Eisenhauer also pulled off his first podium of the year with a second place finish.
Josh Sanders performed a near flawless final run which included some amazing tricks - a 313, a slim chance, a 540 and a tootsie roll. Josh has recently returned from a chronic foot injury and is finally getting back to his best form.
The final stop of the Australian Pro Tour moves on to the Australian Open at Nowra on Saturday, February 26 on the Shoalhaven River.

About The Australian Pro Tour of Wakeboarding: The APTW is now in its third year with six national events gathered under the wing of the APTW. Attracting riders from around the world to compete, the Australian Pro Tour is the most important proceeding for the sport outside the USA.
About Wakeboarding: Wakeboarding is a gymnastic watersport done behind a specialised towboat, where riders use the boat’s wake to create a take off ramp, enabling them to do spectacular tricks. They are judged subjectively according to intensity, creativity and execution with the tricks similar to those done in snowboarding, skating and surfing. The world’s most rapidly growing watersport has developed into one of the most progressive sports of the contemporary era. Wakeboarding is responsible for producing a new variety of sports including wakeskating and wakesurfing. New styles of riding have been invented and now kickers and sliders are part of competitive wakeboarding, where slider rails and floating jumps are positioned in the water for the riders to launch off, similar to a skateboard street course. As a spectator sport, wakeboarding attracts sporting enthusiasts of all ages, especially males aged between 15 – 30.
