you might be able to just fill the holes with some fiberglass (or maybe epoxy) and redrill the screws in once it is all set up....I would try that first

when you get up drop your back hand from the handle - that will square your body up to the board and allow you to figure your stance out a little more. Ride around like that for a while to get the feel of how the board moves when you put pressure...
