Hi Nick, welcome to Wakeworld. There is a board wizard here that can help you select a board: http://www.wakeworld.com/Wizard/Boards.asp

It's important when you are first learning to make sure you get the right technique. This instructional article can help you learn how to cut into the wake correctly: http://www.wakeboarder.com/display.phtml?a=50

You might want to post in the Find a 3rd topic to look for other people in ND.

Nicholas,

Check out http://www.seedickride.com/ It's a shop in ND and they look like they are active in setting up local events and I'm sure would love to give you advice!

You can also get to their site by going to the "cool links" section on the front page of WakeWorld.
