Wow it took them 2 hours to figure out that boat is a piece of crap and they should sell it? What took so long??

I am stoked for them to get real cheap and I can pick one up at my beater boat

I got to ride behind one a few weeks back.
Wouldn't be my first choice but with it being so small it may fit into some of the niche markets.
The owner of this one had weird limits for their private lake and it fit in those rules yet can make a much better wake then the other choices.
It didn't do all to bad. Decent build quality.

There's been two at my local dealership since the release. Unless they are selling them and replacing with identical boats... not moving them at all.

It's an abomination and has been from day one. Can't believe they actually produced 2 models . I also can't believe some company bought the design from the original. That's one way to tank your profit margins .

Bluetooth sound bar that's loud ..........bwahahahahaha. Riiiiiiiight

If I lived on a lake with some weird restrictions, and this boat was able to get me out there riding, I'd happily rock this boat. If my options were to ride behind this or not at all, I wouldn't care what it looked like. They'd be able to sell me this in the "skittles" color scheme....

Unfortunately I don't think you can produce a profitable line of boats on the premise..."well if It was this or nothing I'd buy one".

Very Very few lakes out there with size restrictions that would make you buy this. At 19' 6" long there are better options. Saying if it fits so will something better.

If this was a real concern both MasterCraft and Naitique have made sub 19 foot boats over the years, they'd be making them again.

I absolutely agree with all those statements. This would be my last choice in an unrestricted environment. In a scenario that cowwboy stated though, its better than nothing.

the hull is proven, but you can't F up everything else. great wake is just one component. I know some camps are running them cause they're cheap and throw a decent wake. that layout tho?? c'mon man

I think trying to get a good wake/surf boat into a smaller package is a good idea. This is shorter than my SN2001 and you can surf it. That alone is pretty impressive. It also uses a Cursader engine so it should be relatively easy to find parts for even if Heyday goes kaput. The boat layout is terrible, but so was the wraparound bow seating Mastercraft tried in the late 80's - early 90's. They tried something. It didn't work. I imagine the layout will normalize over time. They already have a non-center-console option for the WT-1. I don't blame them for trying to market a small but functional wake boat in an environment where wake boats are getting bigger and bigger (and more and more expensive). But I'm not dropping $30k-$40k on this. I'd rather buy used.

People don't like change, that's for sure. I haven't had a chance to ride behind a Heyday, but I would love to try one out. I like the price tag on them, and when you consider how much of the Hull actually has to stay in the water to create a wake, this design really kin of makes sense.

I been able to look at one at a dealership and hopefully soon be able to actually spend a lot of time looking at one. The WT-2. It reminds me of the bat boat. I know the concept is great, the wake looks great. I been considering heading to NC as well for their heyday surf fest. The wakes from the videos look great, I too think its a great idea breaking into the cheaper market. I been told by a dealership Moomba just came out with a brand new surf boat for 60k, I think that's great bc on deprecation it means after two years it should be in the 30s you would think. I cant wait to check that out.
Old    Dave (bcrider)      Join Date: Apr 2006       08-25-2017, 11:13 AM Reply
I'm surprised Heyday didn't try and do a VX/AVX (Tige) type platform or more integrated platform to provide more running surface in the water. I'm sure patents probably have a lot to do with that too however.

I'm not a huge fan of these but they don't look too bad on the water. I've seen one locally. On the trailer however, they look hideous. I'll agree they need to try and refine the interior slightly.

Ughhhhh j don't think Moombas new Max will be anywhere near 30s in 2 years lol

HeyDay should be showing off their WT-3 in a couple weeks. Looks like a more traditional design/layout, but will utilize the WT-2 hull (I assume).

On Instagram, there are some pics. Features include a wraparound windshield, stereo, full bow, helm and the Mercruiser 370. I don't have specifics, but I think it'll have 2,400lbs of ballast standard. Should be a solid boat!

Well Yeah...cause obviously they are going to improve with Bayliner getting a hold of them....

Bayliner's are the cheapest boat made price wise and quality wise period. In the runabout segment, in the cruiser segment, and now (again) the tow boat segment. Only brand that rivals them at the bottom is Tracker. Unless these boats cost 30 grand I am not sure who is silly enough to buy one. If you want one just wait a couple years until they are discontinued and buy one cheap.

Anyone who has every owned a Bayliner and moved on to a higher quality boat, myself included, would likely tell you that you are better off with a used quality towboat. And they aren't as cheap as one might think.....

Here is a WT-2 I built with normal Towboat options.
BOAT MODEL: WT-2

BASE COST: $49,995

DELIVERY: $2,067

OPTIONS: $18,547

ESTIMATED COST: $70,609

Toyota owns Lexus. Are Lexus's vehicles the same quality as a Toyota?

Malibu owns axis. Is axis "quality" the same as Malibu?

I know for a fact the Lexus vehicles are built to a higher standard in fit and finish, materials and qc than Toyota.

No argument a Lexus IS nicer than a Toyota. Not sure what that has to do with the Bayliner Towboat. As far as I know Bayliner/ Brunswick/ US Marine only has this one towboat line. I don't see that they are doing a Toyota/ Lexus, VW/ Audi, Malibu/ Axis or Supra/Moomba kinda thing here.

Even with no options the thing shows a base of 50K...before freight, dealer fees, TTL, etc.

I checked normal stuff..Zero off, carpet, cover, Stereo, Racks, the tablet because I think you need some form of gauges. Keeping in mind there are ZERO standard features on these. Everything is an option.

Barring a good discount you are looking at a WT-2 being a $60K+ boat OTD with a few options and TTL.

Some will say I'm close minded, don't accept change, just plain hating...but I don't see people lining up to pay 60K for this. Maybe I'm out of touch and wrong.

You don't say.
I'm sorry to say it but you can thank your favorite wake boat mfg for Bayliner feeling like they can command 40-60k for an absolutely ridiculous set of materials.
It literally doesn't matter "who" of the big 3-5 mfgs are your favorite. It's their fault. These things are so ridiculous now. In 2017 I shouldn't be back in 2003-mindset thinking of starting up The2001 again. I REALLY thought things would have calmed down. They haven't. This is still crazy and anyone considering spending SIXTY. THOUSAND. DOLLARS. on one of those really really really needs to talk to me so that I can just... I don't know.... reason with them I guess.
Best boat out there still for the money? It's STILL a god damn late 90's Sport Nautique. That's just so crazy to me. It shouldn't be that way. There should be a new (outside of cable) boat-based way to ride and ride well than what I told people in 2002-2003.

I mean... you guys... you know I'm right, right?
This is NO way to enter the sport of wakeboarding.

You are correct. Also the 2003-2006 SANTE. It is still the standard for wakeboard wake.

I'm aware. Been around a minute as an owner/rider/troublemaker/marine industry analyst.
Edit: and it's late 1994 Super Sport - 2006 SAN210.

To talk about the differences between the Sport and the Super Sport aren't the point and as a SS/210 owner I think it's clear what I prefer. As a pure money thing though I've always said the 82-89 2001, and Sport are the best bangsforbucks in the history of the sport. That's beyond the scope of this thread though.
And the scope is that "this is insane and it's partly why wakeboarding is hurting."

You're making an assumption about build standards based on the manufacturer which means just about nothing.

check out heydaywakeboats on instagram. I actually think this new one looks pretty good, a little disappointing if the price is as high as above.

I tried to configure one with only the most basic options (racks, perfect pass, Ski Pylon, and cover). The price for a 23' WT-2 as configured was just below 58k. On one hand, 58k for an inboard 23' wakeboat is a decent price. On the other hand, I personally would never buy this thing even though they improved the interior layout. They seriously need to improve the exterior looks - I simply cannot get past the looks.

There is one local to me that a friend of mine owns. I've only seen it on the water. I have to say, on the water it really doesn't look bad. When surfing it looks like its going to do a back flip though. Takes bow rise to a new level.

Not sure how you flip through the pics without going into the app but I like it overall. More traditional but still has a unique identity with the laydown seating in the back and the funky nose.

And you're absolutely right Erik.
I'm really sorry - for what it's worth. It was the weirdest hack I've ever seen. The way they had done it I was faced with launching it with zero content. Zero posts in a zero-value database, no registered users, no threads, no pics, no articles, no how-to's.

What they did was SO malicious, especially from the standpoint of "who the hell am I and whyyyyyyy do you care about my medium-sized niche community web site".

They had gone in and inserted porn & shock site links god.damn.everywhere. The porn wasn't the issue so much as the shock stuff. Good lord. Every profile page, every post on every thread. Anything with bare HTML. It just absolutely nuked the site and I spent weeks trying to undo what they did. Then I spent a sleepless night trying to fix it all by hand. I had fixed less than half of a 10th of a percent. And all the while it was open to the world with that content, all associated with my real name etc.

Faced with pulling it down or just launching it fresh, I just couldn't imagine putting it back up and expecting people to do anything on there at that point. I had even gotten into some trouble with the ISP based on that hack. Losing the content wasn't the problem it was losing the users and losing the message board history. I had close to 1000 registered ppl on there and the site was NOT revenue generating and yet it still really bothered me. It still bothers me. I'm sorry about it though. Thanks for hinting that you'd have used it if I had managed to fix it! Maybe someone will need to do "TheSport" now.
