Great for fishing. Okay for wakeboarding early and sometimes late. Windy throughout most of the day. Traffic is moderate because it's a huge lake. The Colorado arm of LBJ is better wind protected, but narrower and more traffic especially on weekends. Marble Falls is okay also . Travis is easiest to find wind protection on and is more spacious than LBJ or Marble Falls. All of these lakes are on the Colorado River From Lake Buchanan southeast to Austin . The closer you get to Austin the more stores you will have. Lake Buchanan is very sparsely populated with stores, restaurants and gas stations. Hope this helps.
