I'm not into wakesurfing and won't be but your boards look very nice the camo is cool and the serrated fins are too...the more cowbell would be more cool graphics

What size flying saucer is recommended for 5'10 180lbs wet. I don't seem to have a problem staying in the wake of our RZR with our surf style boards but skim will be new to me. I'm on the fence about a 51.5"x20" or 53"x21.5". Anyone with a similar skim care to comment?

I have the Flying Saucer. I weigh around 6'0" 210-215lbs and have the 53" version. It works great. I'm riding mainly behind a 08 XLV that we're still dialing the wake on. It performs great and I can recover very far back in the pocket. I also have no problem making this board do whatever it needs to do. It can spin around and get loose very easily, it also locks in when you want it to as well. It's a very balanced board. My friend who has the XLV is about 180ish and had no problems on this board as well.

I'm digging the look of the new cloth. I love the carbon fiber look.

I don't know if you started building a Hooligan for me yet for next season, but if you haven't, I'd sure like one with that with a clear resin. Looks sick!

That's cool that hes trying to break into the market and advertise. This isn't the way to do it. It probably turns more people off the product than on.

I agree as well...posting what's in stock, prices, board after board after board. Over on the "Boats and Accessories" forum they made a couple dealerships stop posting up newly delivered boats and they didn't advertise prices or hype up their brand. Wonder why the admin hasn't stopped it.

Incorrect, You pass on whats new and exciting for YOUR company! I don't see any of your posts showing ANY other brand other than your own!

I don't see any other company advertising or soliciting like LakeWakes. You don't see brands like Walker, Doomswell, soulcraft and other custom manufacturers posting the way you do.

Guys, give the dude a freaking break. He's a new startup trying to spread the word about his company. He's not a large conglomerate abusing a small site. He's the new guy on the block trying to make a name for himself. If you don't want to see it, don't click the thread. Simple enough.

If the administrator of the site doesn't have an issue with it, then you shouldn't either.

I enjoy seeing his updates. It's a great looking product!

Agreed. The only people looking at this thread should be people interested in his product. If you don't like it, don't click. What's really annoying is reading posts from the trolls in a thread I'm interested in.

I question that the textured finish does not affect board speed. What data do you have to support this?

The boundary layer and viscous shear stresses have a notable impact on fluid dynamics and drag, especially in a dense fluid like water. There is a "no-slip" condition that occurs at a fluid to surface interface. The thicker the boundary layer extends into the flow stream the more drag for flow over a flat plate. This can be good or bad depending on what you're trying to achieve, in the case of board speed this is bad and a textured surface will do just that. Granted there are dimples on a golf ball to reduce drag and improve distance but that is a different condition (want to hold boundary layer on ball's aft surface along as possible to prevent flow separation creating low pressure behind that ball which creates more delta pressure = larger drag force). In the case of a surfboard, boat, airplane we want as thin of boundary layer as possible. The textured finish may be more robust but I would be interested to see supporting evidence that your board speed is independent of the finish.

The textured finish may be more robust but I would be interested to see supporting evidence that your board speed is independent of the finish.
You want proof? Ride one. If you're ever in the PNW, come ride mine. The board is so fast, if you're not on top of your game, it will get the better of you. Hands down fastest board I've ridden. Once you get the hang of it, you love it. It's definitely not for beginner riders or those faint of heart.
I don't know all the science behind all of it, but these boards are durable and extremely fast. The man speaks the truth.

Hi Desi, not discrediting the speed of the board as a whole. I have not ridden them. Surf board speed is governed primarily by the global shape of the board and dimensions in conjunction with the fin profile and fin box angles. The point I was interested in was that his TEK finish in particular does not affect speed.

A thread about textured finish.

.
The textured finish was developed by Coil industries in about 2013. Lakewakes wakesurf boards ans wakeskim boards use the same textured fabric as Coil does.
Coil leaves a textured finish on their entire board. Lakewakes boards use the same textured fabric to aid in the prevention of surface crack into glass and carbon . Lakewakes 2015 model year boards that are manufactured with my TEK wrapped finish has a smooth bottom finish and somewhat textured rail and deck surface. I did not notice and speed difference on a naked or TEK finisked Lakewakes board. My current rocker, bottom contours and fin placement with TEK finish has the 2015 Lakewakes models fast , fun, reliable and durable for years of riding.

Does science prove that there's going to be incrementally more drag on the textured finish vs. a smooth one? Of course-- That's going to be Inherently true.

However, I think what they're saying is that practically, the incremental difference isn't one that is going to be a factor, and certainly not a detriment.

I've ridden the lakewakes flying saucer and agree that it's plenty fast. I think that any marginal drag that could be present from the texture is offset by the shape and weight. So basically the texture makes it stronger and in turn makes it possible to increase other factors that aid in speed and more than offset any incremental drag that science says has to be present.

Bottom line, you don't notice the texture and it works.

I hope that helps.

The last picture with the smooth surface bottom certainly has a different reflection and finish from the earlier posts. I could easily understand that the fabric matrix overlay will help with durability and structural integrity. I would be very interested in getting to test one out, sounds like supporters have positive feedback. Thanks for the replies.

2015 Lakewakes Hooligan Carbon wakesurf board for Phil Lewis.

Phil wanted a Custom Hooligan wakesurf board in size 4.6. Green logos and Agenda propad wakesurf traction.

TEK Finish in light gray with Futures fins*

TEK finish serves as an exoskeleton protecting the underlying carbon fiber cloth. And keeps carbon cool to the touch. "So no more oven mitts to handle a carbon fiber board. "

This board also comes with compsand cork panals located under the traction pads to spread loads and keep foot traffic areas from smashing in.

Finished board weight without traction is 5.0 pounds.
