I don't have a wakesurfboard, I have a 6'0 short surfboard though, and I've been trying to ride with that. I can't stay up on the board. I'm riding behind a malibu wakesetter, with 3 ballasts and a wedge. I've been riding about 10-15 mph, with about a 15 foot rope. Am I doing anything wrong? I just can't keep the speed up when I throw the rope in the boat. Thanks a lot for anyones help.

slow the boat down... im normaly around 9mph, but when we have TONS of weight in i ride at about 11mph max... try slowing it down, and also weigh down the side your surfing alot more, if not all the weight, on the side your surfing... that should help

Check out this link for a video. It may help for you to see it done instead of having someone describe it to you.

Is it easier to ride frontside or backside. I've been trying backside.

On the wakesetter drain one side of the ballest, also have everyone in the boat sit on one side and add additional ballest if you can, go around 10.5 mph and try ridding on your toeside, here is a picture to give you a better idea of what im talking about.

Well to make the wedge work properly(sp) its good to have at least a half full center MLS

if I took a few 45lbs weights from my benchpress and put them in one side of the boat's storage, would that make a considerable difference to make an even bigger wake? I know I should still be able to get up fine behind what I've got now, but would that help enough to try?

I have a V230, I weigh about the same as you, I'm 6ft. I put a 1100 build fat sack in the back an now I can surf. I don't think a couple 45 plates is going to do much. Go to wakemakers and see what they have for you. The guys down there are very helpful and will tell you what you need.

How much do you weigh?

those 45s under your fat sack would make a difference.

make a new thread for your boat and how to weigh it for surfing. "weighting (your boat here) for surfing"

also, don't throw the rope until you get your weight setup right.

it helped our wake on my 07 VLX, to add more weight midship or up front

you wanna watch the wave and control with you heel is more difficult... so frontside is easier.

I only can guess - the problem with you board ist: its hard to push it down with your heel. Slow acceleration and as soon as the boat starts, you push the edge of the board down with your heels.
