Anyone in town that wants to check it out should contact Greg at AWS. It sounds like Shane Stillman is bringing it up personally on Tuesday 10/2. I will let you know what I think about it after we get out on it. It is definitely on my short list for the new boat next year....

I think you'll like it a lot. Where are you going to drive it? If it's a shallow private lake, you might be less than totally stoked about the wake, but you'll like it none the less. It sounds incredible from the shore, helm is very intuitive, and finally Shane is awesome!

Sounds like we are hitting the river here. Plenty deep.

I still haven't found an answer as to solid reason to buy one of these over a MXZ. From what I've read, they cost more when optioned similar, with wakes that are close but not quite as good, interiors that are close but not quite as good, and less overall features.

I'm not trying to start a debate or be a dick, but would really like to know what benefits this Supra has over the MXZ.

I'm curious if they really do list for more than the MXZ. Close I'm sure, but more? The designer did come from a long career with Malibu, so I wouldn't be surprised about many similarities.

Not trying to sound like a dick....or maybe
But some ppl are brand loyal....Some ppl might prefer the looks over the Bu'
and for those ppl a few thousand more might be worth it.

I can't comment on price as I'm not quite sure which will cost more, but having seen both i would certainly give the edge to the Supra over the Malibu when it comes to the interior. Very plush and great attention to detail everywhere. I would be curious to know what features the MXZ offers (besides surfgate of course) that the SA doesn't?

I can't comment on price or comparison to the MXZ cause I have not seen them. I really doubt they will be more money than the MXZ, but I don't know the answer to that until I sit down with my dealer if I like it. The higher prices that everyone is seeing on SA is for a SA550. That is all in the supercharged motor. My guess is it will be less if you option it similar to a MXZ standard motor. From what I hear the wake is money as well, so that might push more people to it. Who knows... we all buy for different reasons. I will form my opinion next week!

There is a pretty good jump in price from the 350-450..but not as much to the 550.. I went for the 550. When ur spending 88 some thousand what's another 10 grand..

Tyler, I'm going to try to be there. Any idea what time you are going?

Crossing my fingers that the weather holds...

I think they said they were demo'ing from 10-5 (but said they would go later if people wanted). I am going to try and cut out of work around 1 if I can and cruise over. Weather forecast is looking good!

It looks so sexy on the water!

Alright we got out on it. It is Awesome. Totally different than any Supra I have been on.
The 450 motor sounds sweet and you can hear it coming and got us out of the water just fine and we were loaded down with folks and the plug and play ballast. I did not wakeboard, but the wake was visually huge. Not sure these pics I am going to post even come close to doing it justice. It was meaty and the guys that rode both gave huge props and everyone on the boat was commenting on it. Clean on both sides and stayed clean a ways back. Really no adjustments of people in the boat were needed.
We did surf it and I did jump in the water to see if the surf has changed. We did not do much playing with moving weight around and would love to spend some time seeing what will work for us. It cleaned up fast and was certainly longer than the wave I had on my 21V. Everything on the boat is well thought out. I drove it for a few minutes and we had a full boat and the all ballast full. It still handled great. I can imagine it was even better with out the weight.

I really like the new tower and simplicity to fold. It is amazingly sturdy. I tried to rock it and could not get it to move an inch either way.

All in all a huge thumbs up. Will be discussing costs on it over the next few weeks I imagine. Quality, fit and finish, wake, etc make me think the price is going to be up there with all the other big boys on the market, but I am selfishly hoping not. We did not really talk much on pricing. Our dealer just got one in. It literally came in today, while we were on the water. Hope to see that over the next few weeks. The one we were on today is one of the first ones made that they have been demoing and has been pictured a bunch. Shane Stillman brought it up from California for the day.

Thanks AWS, SUPRA and Shane Stillman for a good day out!!

Here are some pics and I know I should have taken more, but this is what I got.....

Oh yeah..... Someone wrote in a review a while back that they did not like the armrest and throttle position.... I thought it was totally perfect and comfortable. I moved the seat forward and backward and it was totally comfy and fit perfectly in pretty much all positions.... I should have snapped a pic... Damn.... Not sure if I was missing something, but I kept trying it since that was something I read.....

Very nice! You sell the 21? If you get a black one would you get the same wheels? I'm diggin' those, guy... Besides the obvious, what differences in construction, fit and finish did you notice? How did it handle wake crossings or chop (if any today, I was head deep in a Star

Is that really the bimini position? It looks like its 2-3 feet in coverage area?

AJ - Bimini is in the closed position in the pics. Will try and post better pic tomorrow.

Lionel - everything is different inside and out. We crossed the wake several times and it was real smooth. You should have made a trip down to check it out

Here are some more pics one of the other guys that was out grabbed earlier in the day. One of them is a great video of the sound of the motor, but I can't grab that while I am at work....

Digging the new blacked out SUPRA graphic. Look forward to seeing this on black

Three carpet options...... This material, snap out gray carpet, or snap out SUPRA logo carpet

The metal intakes actually look real good in person, but I like what you are thinking. Did not think about that, but maybe blacking it out completely would look pretty cool.

Man that sounds good, But it real loud in side the boat. I would hate to spend all that money on a stero for it to be drowned out by the motor.
Old     (tyler97217)      Join Date: Aug 2004       10-04-2012, 8:59 AM Reply
No it really wasn't bad in the boat at all. It was growly when you got on it or off it, but sounded good and not much louder than any other boat I have been in. The comments all really came from the people on the dock as you would come in to pick people up or drop people off....
I had the 345HP surf motor in my last boat and it had a nice growl to it as well, but not this nice.

Did they add hinges and shocks to the seats cushions yet? I think that is something Supra needs. Other then that boat looks killer. It seems all the companies are trying to design hulls that produce clean wakes at different speeds and weights..... about time. This is good for the target audience of $100k boats.... Dad's buying it for their families. Sure there are WW types buying them for hardcore riding (well actually those WW types seem to buy Axis or MB) but the majority of the owners of these types of boats are adults/parents who can foot the bill.

501's - Some did and some did not. They have a unique hinged system on some of the seats that I have not seen any of the other boats do. Can't remember which ones all had that system on it. Was too much to take in and lots of people in the boats at different times...

I think it's quieter inside than my boat with an LS3.

oh my gosh!!!! I'm so sorry about your accident.

I cant believe a G23 and a MXZ crashed into eachother like that.

wait...

(aside from the little burn and humor, it is a good looking boat)

I also joined some of the local guys on this demo and can attest that this boat is damn fine. I think its a good point about Dad's buying the boats. Let me tell ya, every dad (me included) woudnt mind putting the hammer down a few times out there on the water. The growl on this boat lives up to its SA name big time. In the boat I didn't think it was any more noisy or quieter than others I've been on recently. It's clear that Skiers choice made some good "choices" on this new Supra design.

Here's a quick video I snapped with my iPhone of the surf. Keep in mind this is stock everything and with about 3 mins of fiddling around with settings. I was pretty impressed with all aspects of this boat. Good job Supra.

PS: I was a wuss and didn't wanna dip my lilly white behind in the 60 degree water for a session

Active Water Sports just got their first SA in. It is an SA 350. I stopped by to check it out since it is more my color scheme so I could see how it looks. Here are a few more pics so you can see it with snap out carpet, the hinged seat with the cooler bag inside, stock wheels and different colors....

There are two seats that hinge like this. The rear seat and this seat. There are also two places that you can put these soft side supra coolers. One here or once accross by the garbage can and where the seat is looking back...

It's been demo-mania up here in Portland... In the last month I've demo'd the SA450, VLX w/ Surf Gate, and G25. So much fun!!

I was thinking about the SA450 today and realized I hadn't shared any thoughts. So hopefully you won't mind if I do so here...

Overall, I liked the boat so much more in person than in the pics. It's really quite stunning. I have read many people say that it looks too much like the MXZ (another sick boat I'd like to try), but if you see the boat in person, you wouldn't think that anymore. It has unique lines and depth that don't necessarily show up in pictures.

Here's a list of things that I noticed specifically:

• 450hp motor was a beast!
• Power raise and lower driver seat
• Driver cup holder is the perfect height (not down on the floor, not up at the windshield)
• Tower goes up and down so easily with ONE person
• Bimini goes up and down so easily with ONE person
• 450hp motor is a rocket!
• Deep space under helm for drivers feet/gear
• HUGE bow (my kids would love it)
• Cool hinged seats cushions and tall seat bases
• Plug-N-Play ballast makes for better surf wave
• Rear facing seat back behind driver that opens up for more storage (really loved this)
• Rear facing seat back on port side that reveals cup holders underneath
• Seadeck step on bow
• Love the two level sun deck so much more than just a little cut out seat
• Wake was clean all the way down to 17mph… surprising for such a big, heavy boat
• Cool billet gills on the side of the bow
• Almost forgot to mention… the 450hp motor is a real hot rod!

Finally, I only surfed the boat... didn't have time to wakeboard. I really liked it. With just stock ballast (hard tank + plug'n'play) the wake was nice and long with good push. This pic sucks, but it's all I have from the demo. I was definitely able to surf further back on the SA than I'm used to.
